  1. 1. What if any bread items can you eat without any discomfort

    • None-tried it once will never try it again
    • Little-tried a little not horrible but uncomfortable
    • OK-can eat bread and/or bread products with few problems
    • As much as I want-Never had a problem with bread with the band

I have weird cravings now...like cesar salads, steamed brocolli and cheese, refried Beans with salsa.

OMG, I have the same cravings! In fact today, I literally told my husband I couldn't wait to have a chicken caesar salad, and today I had refried beans..LOL. Sadly, I'm craving pizza and garlic bread the most...grrrr

I was craving pizza as well. I cut the toppings into little pieces and it actually cured my craving. I eat the toppings and my son ate the crust...winning combo!!

Try the thin crust pizza. A fellow bander told me she can eat one piece of thin crust pizza....takes her a while but it does cure the craving.

Not very much bread for me. I'm at 8.25cc finnally having restriction.

Question, having hard time knowing difference between full feeling and/or stuck?

I tend to mostly eat protiens, dairy, veggies and fruits first but when I do eat breads I will stick with dry/crunchy foods like crackers, pizza crusts or toast. I've had a couple bites of cake and chewed well and there was no problem. I've had three fills and I have tried many things. I also ate some lasagna I made (with much less Pasta than normal and more veggies) but it made me feel sluggish and heavy in my stomach so I will not eaten that again.

Stuck HURTS. I find it VERY painful. Full is just uncomfortable and maybe a feeling of it sitting in your throat if you really push it. Which I've done once or twice. I try hard not to do either of the above but sometimes it just happens.

I keep chewable papaya enzymes on hand (at home and in my purse) in case of sticks. Helps a lot. I haven't PB'd yet b/c of them. I also eat them after my lunch and dinner to help with digestion in general. Esp. if it's a meal that's just going to sit there. The ones that I buy also have chlorophyl in them and that helps with cell rebuilding too, just like in plants.

I can eat a slice of toast with my egg in the morning but have a hard time if I try to eat a sandwich; it just got stuck and I felt like I was choking. Have to remember to chew, chew, chew. AND yes, a burger is a great thing every now and again. I am a bit nervous to try rice, Pasta or potatoes and would not of even trying pizza.< /p>

I was banded 11-14-08 and even with my first fill I could eat think crust pizza, not the best choice of food but I was out of town on business and that is what I had for lunch. I did however have my second fill on friday so I dont know if I would be able to eat it again or not.

Where do you get Papaya Enzymes?? That may help me. I do not feel restriction, but I do get that "stuck" feeling with meats (even if chewed well) if I do not sit up straight when I eat. I have PBed a few times and that relieves the discomfort. Ate a roll the other night and took small bites and had no problem with that at all. Thanks!

I am horrible! I can eat some bread as long as it's with something that will help it slide, like butter or sauces. My restriction is pretty tight right now but I have days that I can eat something OK and then there are days where I can hardly eat. I take my Multi-Vitamin and Calcium supplement and Biotin because I know I'm not getting enough of what

I should be eating... the things I have trouble with the most is chicken! Especially the breast... maybe because it's dry...The only chicken I can eat right now is the Willie's boneless wings with no breading (with a lot of blue cheese) I basically eat whatever is on the menu and eat a whole lot less of it...

I can eat bread in moderation and as long as it's been reduced to a mush prior to swallowing. I choose not to eat too much bread though.

I got a bottle of chewable Natural Papaya & pineapple Enzymes at Trader Joe's. I would think any health food store would carry them too. I had a stuck episode with chicken one day, and as soon as I chewed one, I had immediate relief.

I get them at my little local natural Vitamin store. Heck you might even find them in the natural foods section at your grocery store. I've never looked. I should just in case I can't get them for some reason at my regular place.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
