Ah Candra I think instead of going to Mexico we should invest in some needs and we could practice on each other!!! LOL :-P Ah the doors that would open........probably not good doors!!

Tina you just made me miss my Daddy - if he were still alive he'd fill us up - Dare I say he was pretty good with a needle - although, we could never be sure if it was just saline he was giving us :w00t:

Morning everyone. I am feeling the port a lot more. I have a darn cold so whenever I sneeze I feel as if the port is going to come right off. It HURTS like heck and burns. I know its cause its still healing (I hope) when you all feel it it;s not painful is it? and is this normal for me? I can't sleep at night because it so uncomfortable.

Maria, mine burned like an SOB for 6 full weeks!! Some folks on here healed in like 4 weeks, but I was bothered by it for 6 weeks. . . . Dr. Baggs said 4-6 weeks is normal. HOWEVER - as you may know, mine got infected, so let me warn you!! If the skin around it becomes red and warm to the touch, get into the Kaiser Richmond ER as soon as you can.

Oooooh, I loved Wellbutrin - it made me lose weight!!!

You will all be happy to know that the diet Jello shots set up perfectly!!!

scale moved only 1/2 a pound yesterday, I was expecting a big drop-off since I gained 4 back over a 2-day period . . . uhm, not so much! Caloriecount.about.com says that I am running about a 1,300 calorie per day deficit, which equates to a 2 lb. per week weight loss - I'm waiting patiently!!!

Good morning all, happy Friday!!!!

good morning Maria. I went thru the same thing. sneezing was the worst thing in the world. i'd grab my port & hold on for dear life LOL. my problem with sleeping was because i sleep on my left side & tummy so i kept rolling over on it in my sleep and it would wake me up. Now its no big deal. i dont feel it at all when im laying down or standing up. its when im sitting for a long time or bend a certain way that it hurts a tad. my rib cage hits it.

Riley Wellbutrin never made me lose weight but always kept me frm getting cranky. i switched from the sr version to the regular ones and it appears to be a different generic brand. just not working the same. my headaches are even real frequent again. Doc Fisher said it was fine to go back to the SR ones. They are at the pharmacy waiting for me but I was just waiting for $. Got some now so I'm gonna pick them up today.

Did i mention that i'm officially poor now - got Suave Shampoo, conditioner & St. Ives face wash - all for about 10 bucks - bargain!! Afraid to see my PG&E bill though... Been so cold we've had the heater on!!

.99 cents cheeseburgers & top ramen are whats on the menu till i get approved for unemployment hahaha. Its hard doing this on our own but i couldn't imagine how hard it must be with children depending on you. on the bright side, there's no place to go but UP from here.

PS: x-mas is cancelled

Candra~ I completely understand what you have said. I am not going to get into things on here. Let me just say I have supported Nicoles relationship and been there for her and her boyfriend more than you would ever know. I want the best for her.

~I just wanted to let everyone know the reality of things and I will not appologize for that. I am in an akward position as Nicole and I are referred to as the twins or a team. I do not want to continue this as if all is great. This is a support group for the Lap-Band surgery and the journey... this is now part of my journey. A treu and harsh part of what can happen. Of course in the future I want the best for all of us but we are all going to hit a speed bump or 2 along the way. Honesty about what I am doing, eating, exercising, feeling is the best way to face this head on.

I am very sorry if anyone feels uncomfortable. I do not want anyone thinking about sides, We are adults. I was not going to continue a charade that I am great. I am not. I would not want to be a part of this group if I felt I had to lie or cover up the truth.I lay it out there as I see it.

Liz - I'm so sorry this is all happening right now but it will all work itself out.

You are doing the best thing you can by working out and eating right and this will all pay off in the end. I so wish I had the workout bug - I'm sure my spirits will be back on top and I will be ready to rock once I restart my wellbutrin - TODAY is the day for us to rock on!

Good luck Candra I know you are feeling alot of things lately... U need to go kick the heck out of a punching bag! So frustrating. This is such a crazy journey and a tuff one at that!!!!! Being tight with money at Xmas sucks... but xmas is not about money. Make things for people or give the coupons of thing you can do for them or with them later. Time is precious. I pray that your money comes through for you soon... it is so hard to eat healthy when you have lil funds. I will tell ya ... ground turkey goes along way and makes alot of things. Can you eat that?

I love my ground turkey. got lots a real turkey from thanksgiving in the freezer so since I'm only eating small portions it lasts quite some time! I do have a savings account we will be fine I'm just not going to blow it on x-mas and having nothing left in case I need it for food or mortgage - it's all good!

Whis is it so much more expensive to eat healthy? Gotta learn to grow my own veggies! Maybe we should get a lap band compound going and we all move in and live off the land

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
