Yes, TracyK, I second that! Grandparents ROCK!

Judy... maybe you should whip up one of TracyKS's mocha skim ooh-la-la fancy pants drinks after Ethan goes to bed! You deserve it!

I think the thing I am most pleased about today is that I have not turned to eating to take care of the stress. I've been good and eaten only my regular tuna and soy nuts with a blueberry/cream/splenda concoction. I'm having tilapia for dinner with some broccoli and cheese sauce.

Time to start cooking supper here.

Oh, and I don't like coffee so any of the mocha ooo la la drinks would not be a treat for me....... now a McDonald's chocolate milkshake.. that's a different story!!!

I sent you all an email with the latest details. Also didn't want to post it here.

Wow, so much going on. Judy & Kat, your families continue to be in my prayers!!

I made salmon with a mayo/mustard/dill sauce on top.. was very good, so now I have a salmon recipe I can make at home and like. Russ liked it too-he normally doesn't like sauces.< /p>

I have a bad /pressure pain in my lower abdomen & hooha, feels like a bowling ball.. I think Carson is in a bad spot. I rocked on all 4's for about 5 minutes and the pain feels better, but still a lot of pressure. Oof.

Laura - your salmon sounds yummy! Salmon is one of my favorite fish to eat but only if I cook it at home. I hate getting it at a restaurant and then you get a dry piece of fish.

I just got home and getting ready to get some chicken breasts in the oven. I don't have anything to make as a side other than black eyed peas! I need to go to the grocery store. The times that I am not prepared with a stocked fridge and pantry are the times that we rely on fast food and that's never good...

My blessings for today - I'm thankful that my family is close together and that we are able to see each other very often...

Today I am grateful for...

...hearing "our" owl hooting so close by this afternoon.

...seeing a bluebird (of happiness?) dart by.

...a good hard workout today.

...walking into the Mailboxes Etc. store to mail off a work package, & there was my best friend! So we enjoyed a quick, unscheduled latte & a few minutes chatting in the afternoon sun.

Sweet dreams, Violets! Tomorrow is a new day!

True confessions! I am CRAVING ice cream! I even almost rationalized myself into indulging!

But then I thought about #1: if I felt I had to wait 'til after the kids were in bed (= sneak it!), then that was a huge signal that I shouldn't do it; #2: Judy's wise words on stress & eating (I'm not stressed, for me it would be more of a "treat" for the day); #3: writing my grateful list about the hard workout -- it WAS a hard one & I don't want to undo all the good I did!; #4: looking at my ticker and thinking about what it is I really want... a momentary affair w/a bowl of frozen milk or to get back to my lowest weight??

SO... I will go get into my pj's, brew a cup of tea, & relax a bit before bed! Phew! That was close!

I am grateful today for so many things in my personal life, but what's most on my mind is that I'm grateful to have generous medical benefits so that I can give my kids the best care available.

(((Kat))) Please let us know how you're doing. We won't rest 'til we hear from you.

(((Judy))) Give Ethan a kiss from his Aunties.

Ethan has had his bubble bath and is now sleeping. Grandma will soon be asleep too. Tomorrow our CPA will be here to go over tax info. Then it will be Ethan and me for the day until rehearsal in the evening.

I'm grateful today for staying true to the band and not letting stress get the better of me. I'm also grateful for being able to give Ethan love and attention.

Good night, Violets.. sleep well.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
