Hi Kimmy,

I'm from Utah. I'm the 5th one in my family to have the band. It depends on whether or not your insurance will cover it, then they dictate where you have it done, with some exceptions. All of us had ours done in Mexico except for my mom, Medicaid covered hers.

i will probably have to pay for it myself, have you heard anything about the surgical weightloss center of Utah?

Hi Kimmy. I'm from Utah and had to self pay. I went to Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver. (lapbandrockies.com). He was several thousand dollars cheaper than anyone I could find in Utah and he's awesome. There's a whole thread about him under "doctors and hospitals".

thanks for your input, what about all your fills?

Well, because I am too busy to travel to Colorado, I have my done at the local Fill Centers location. The Dr. they use specializes in bariatrics and is awesome. He does it at his office and always uses fluoroscopy. It is expensive, however. However, given what I saved on the surgery, I am still waaaayyy ahead on money.

Some people choose to fly back to Denver for their fills (I did my first time) since Dr. K. gives free fills for 3 months and then only charges $15 each after that! Another thing I liked about Dr. K. was how fast I was able to get in. I first contacted them in May and had my surgery July 2nd. It was fabulous.

Let me know if you have other questions.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
