Hey Notorious Novembers! :)

NSV Bridesmaids Dress Update

So first off I am still unfilled down to 3cc's following an extended espisode with heartburn. So my restirction is basically non exsistent, but I am trying to the best I can with food choices and exercise. But the good thin is that I back to my surgeon tomorrow so hopefully there is a fill in my immediate future so I can get some help getting the scale moving.

So do you guys remember me asking your advice about ordering bridesmaids dress for a wedding I going to be in in October? Well at the time I was in an 18, and took a gamble on myself and ordered the dress in a 14... Well I picked up the dress yesterday...

Can I get a drum roll please?!?!?!?!?

The dam thing didn't fit! It's to fricken BIG!!!!!! Like I had to hold it up (its strapless) so that it would stay up to BIG! I am so floored I mean i probably could have gotten away with ordering a 10. HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!!!!

ddgalarza!

YOU GO GIRL!:biggrin::wub::w00t::party:

That's just awesome! I know you are proud of yourself, and I'm proud of you too!

Keep up the good work - you are an inspiration!

I haven't posted in quite awhile..... same as I've been reading, got busy.. excuses, excuses, etc. At any rate, I have lost 40 lbs. - surgery date was 11/11/08 and feel great. As others, my weight loss has nearly come to a halt, but I am so happy with what I have accomplished. I have 7cc in my 10cc band and definitely have restriction. I have to be very careful what I eat and how I eat it. Still love my band! Keep up the good work, all!

From Bridesmaids dress NSV to Band Slippage and repair surgery all in the blink of an eye. Well folks the results are in and my band has slipped which I knew when I was having heartburn, but my surgeon thought that an unfill would allow it to repair iteself. Well no such luck, just left her office and the band is still out of place and the only way to fix it is with SURGERY. So here we go again. She gave me the option to take it out, if I was happy with my weight loss so far. I was like are you fricken kidding me?!?!? I'm happy with the weight I've lost but I am far from done. ABSOLUTLEY NO REMOVAL! REPAIR REPAIR REPAIR! So now comes the waiting game of ins approval and availability on her schedule. If I had it my way I'd be in surgury tommmorw. I'm like lets get this show on the road and get this thing fixed and get the scale moving. Wish me luck. In the mean time I will try to keep on making beter food choice and hitting the gym like a mad woman!

It's been a long time since I've posted on this thread. Went through a three-month plateau (interspersed with just plain not doing stuff right), but I am officially down 63.5 pounds as of this morning.

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. No chance of it fixing itself with a total unfill? Seems like I read that on here before.

Did she give you any clue what may have caused it to slip? Too tight? Just happens sometimes? I worry about it as I'm self pay. I guess I would worry about it even if I wasn't actually! How exactly did she say she would repair it? I sure wish you the best and hope it's right back as it should be really quick! Best wishes to you! I get my unfill tomorrow for my surgery.

Oh that just sucks!

That's right - we can't do without our tools!

Good luck, ddgalarza - I know you're going to come through this just fine - you have the mental strength and commitment to make it happen!

Woo Hoo! Go Beth! :w00t::w00t:

I went out on a limb, so to speak, and bought a couple of dresses in a size Large. Well, today I tried them on, because while the scale hasn't moved at all, I can tell my body is still changing. Unfortunately, that means that things are sagging, bagging and bulging in places that they didn't do before. There's less bulk filling up the skin, so I've got excess going on, wrinkles, etc.

I'm happily at the point where I need to buy more clothes - things are falling off of me - and new foundation garments. All my bras are too big and I need to replace a few.

It's hard to know what to buy, because I'm sure I'll change sizes again soon, but I want to look polished and professional while I'm losing...I'll figure it out - I'll put my image consulting training to work and come up with a solution.

Congrats on your progress camfun!

Yeah this really sucks, and I'm bumped but not defeated. I try to always look on the bright side and be optimistic. She said that just about anything could have caused the slip. a PB episode, lifting something to heavy to soon...who knows. she didnt think that a total unfil would fix it though, which is wht I thought she might try. To repair it it is literally a nother sugery, going in through the same incisions sites and basically moving it into correct position and putting in a few stitches to keep it in its correct position. At this point I'm just ready to get to repair surgery and get back to buisness!

So sorry to hear about your set-back, but you will be back in the game soon.... You have done an amazing job so far and there is no reason to think you won't continue to do so. I got on the scale this morning, and was down another lb..... YEAH! 41 total now! Still not sure what my goal is, but I do know I'm not there yet. My size 12 pants are big, but not big enough to go down another size. Unfortunately for me my bra size hasn't changed a bit, but I know surgery that can fix that problem! teehee

Someone somewhere probably does..... seems we already have too many choices, ya know? lol Oh well.... in another month or so perhaps I will be able to buy size 10.... Not complaining, cause these 12's are quite different from those huge things I used to wear!:blushing:

You got THAT right! I've kept my size 24's (and the subsequent sizes) just as a reminder.

Hey Notorious Novembers!

Okay, I know I said yesterday my weight was 227, but as of THIS morning I'm 223.5!!! Omg, I LOVE the 5-day pouch test!

Way to go, Beth! Woot! Woot!

Why is it they don't make women's jeans in half sizes? :tt1:

Try a juniors size near where you are now - perhaps a 15 will fit better than a 16, for example...just a thought...you skinny thang you!

Hi Notorious Novembers! Today, I finally got to 50# loss. I have had the flu and that is not the way to do it, but a loss is a loss:-) Anyone else notice that you are holding on to stomach fat? It keeps me from going down another size and I don't know what to do to help. I am only 5# from onederland, but the stomach weight hangs on. Any suggestions to get the stomach weightloss going? I have been on a 3 month plateau until the flu!

Beth from VA, way to go!

ddgl....good luck with your repair.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
