Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Recommended Posts

Well, I've gotten back on track and feel things are moving again. I have finally decided to incorporate exercise which has been hard to do with a youngster and working all day. By the time I get home and get my little one situated, I'm so tired and only want to relax. No excuse, I know. Well I am down 56 pounds with 17 more to go. Hard to believe that I can say that. I feel so much better. I didn't realize just how much my weight was affecting the quality of my life.:w00t:

Try as I might, this band hasn't worked for me. I am officially pre op for a revision to an RNY. So I am a band failure. But I will continue to fight this disease of obesity.

Well, my band will be gone by the new year, and the RNY will be done at the same time. I'm both glad and sad. Andy bandy and I just never got along well. Right now my band is completely empty, fearing yet another slip. And my weight is now above my surgical weight of 242. I am 244 this morning.

It's been a looong time since I've checked in here.

I am holding steady at 210 but I need to get back on the band wagon.

I haven't had a fill in over a year and I am way overdue.

I just saw your post Teri. I wish you well on your new venture.

The end of the this week will be my 2 year bandiversary (9/25/08) and I have been a slow loser. I really wanted to hit a milestone of 50 lbs but it's not looking like that will be happening. I'm hovering around 44 lbs or so. When I look back at my weight loss history, I hardly EVER lost and i've GAINED at all the major diets..how the heck is that possible. On a dr. supervised diet i only lost 15 pounds in nearly 2 years also. Soooooooo, I'm thrilled to say I lost 44 lbs and I will continue until I lose ALL I want to lose!! Ive had my troubles, its been an up n down but overall, only success is coming my way. That's my mantra and I have to stick to it.

Sorry for those who had to get rid of their band..i was worried recently and had an unfill..i gained a few pounds but I'm going back for a little refill...maybe not as much as before but i am definitely not at restriction now.

I continue to wish you all well. My two year bandiversary was last thursday, and at this point I've gained two pounds. Some being Fluid.

My loosing the band, doesn't mean that i do not believe in it. It means I'm tired of slipping. My band has slipped twice in 2010. Which means I'm more likely to continue to slip. I've always had a pressure in my chest eating, first bite, or even a sip. I have had a nasty return of my reflux, and that fix was a hope of mine.

Teri -- I wish you the best. You have gone through so much. You know, this isn't exactly like they said it would be. It is much MUCH more difficult. I know that the RNY will work for you and I pray that this will fix everything. Keep your Chin up. We all love you!! You have always been our cheerleader..... Take Care and continue to let us know how you are doing. Deb

Hi all! I have not been on in awhile. I too have been a slow loser. I'm ok w/ that. I could have done better if I followed my plan better. Like someone said earlier...if I did not have my band I would have gained all of my 50 lbs back by now! I have not had a fill since about spring and I can eat anything at this point. I have gained about 5 lbs so I need a fill! This is the 1st i have gained in 2 yrs. Gotta get back on the horse! ;-)

I am no longer banded. I lost my band on 1-11-11 but gained an RNY. I have already lost 25 pounds in two weeks. So I'm pleased. And I've already lost high blood pressure, and my diabetes. I have developed sleep apnea since getting my lapband. the thought is, within the next three months I'll be cured of my sleep apnea, which is mild, and not requiring a cpap or anything.

I also have not been on for a while. I had my surgery 2 years ago on 9/18. I also am a slow loser, 41 lbs to date. This is much harder than I thought it would be, but what I lose stays off. I try to stay on the program but life gets in the way sometimes. I am trying to lose another 20 lbs this year. Slow and steady wins the race, right!

Stick with it Samurai's we can do this.

Glad you are finally doing well teri!! Tomorrow is 2 1/2 years since my banding and I have finally made it to 199 and a 56 lb loss. Yay!! It's been slow and a few bumps along the way but well worth it. I feel great, am taking kickboxing 3X/week and recently started training to do a 100mile bike ride in June!!!! Like someone said....WTG Samurais!!!

Hi, fellow Samurai's. I too have not posted in a while. But it sounds like we are all about the same as far as weightloss is concerned. I have lost 64 pounds to date. It is hard. I've been at this same weight for @ a year. I only lost 5 pounds from October will now. GRRRR! But I keep on keeping on. I wonder if I came here more often if it would heIp. I think I'll try to check in more often.

Teri it's great to hear you are doing so well. I know there have been many challenges for you along this journey. Congratulations on the fantastic loss!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
