Thanks SickNTired - that was just enough help to get me going.

Glad to hear so many October bandsters have had such good experiences with the surgery. I'm nervous, but ready!

Reading about all of the people who have had their surgery already is just getting me more excited for mine! I can't believe that it is almost here!! I just finished my students progress reports which was the last thing that I had to do before I left school! It sounds like everybody is doing great!!

Best of luck to those of you who are going in on Monday: October 6-Odawa; DeeH; sim78; bandedCG; sweetgothic; daydreamer1; artistapril; roxann; MississippiGirl; trinaj :cursing: I will be thinking of you!

Afternoon everyone,

I'm a newbie whose date for banding is 10/30 with Dr Ortiz. I can tell you I'm really looking forward to my new life with my new tool in this fight. I've read a lot of everyone's posts and am glad that I found this forum with so many people who are experiencing the same things...nerves, doubt, elation.

My surgeon called this morning to go over a few items. He talked with me regarding weight loss goals:

4 wks. - he expects a loss of 16 lbs

1 1b per wk

2 lbs per wk with exercise

50 lbs off this year

70 lbs off within 2 years

That would be nice, however, I honestly right now would be esctatic if I loss up to 25-30 pounds by the end of December and I'm thinking about a loss of 50 sometimes next year. So, we will see.

LoneStarLoser, I too have been contemplating wearing the exact same thing (a lounger dress). Thanks for helping me feel it is okay.

I think I looked a lot better than some of the others there. They had on tacky t-shrts and sloppy sweat pants. My house dress also had big pockets so I could put my glasses in them when I went to surgery. I was soooo easy to get dressed after surgery too. Good luck.

These posts are addicting. I can't stop reading and digesting all the information. It is so interesting that we are all on the same journey but it is so different. Pre op diets lasting from 6 months to none at all, hospital stays from 4 hours to overnight. Bottom line is we all have the same journey ahead of us

I start the preop diet tomorrow, South Beach Phase 1 which is basically no carbs. Surgery is the 13th at 7:30am. I have finally calmed down and am not as nervous. BUT I will really need your support after for my new lifestyle!

Proud to be a smashing pumpkin.:tongue2:

Congrats Linda! Good luck with your pre-op diet! FYI, I graduated from UB and all I can think about is that senseless winter October snow storm of 2006 lol. How horrible was that?

I was banded on the 2nd October in Belgium but i live in the UK. So far i have lost 7 pounds and am really pleased. I didnt find the surgery too painful and have already stopped taking pain killers.

I hope everyone else has as good an experience as i have!

A lounger dress would have been perfect, I had a cath (so didn't know about that ahead of tiime!) when I woke so pants were out. I would have been much more comfy in my long jersey lounger. It doesn't have sleeves and is roomy.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
