I am amazed at how long this thread has gone on. I'm so glad we haven't given up on keeping up with each other. It really helps.

My weight loss has slowed considerably the last month or so, but I did hit 70 lbs lost. I'm attaching a before & current photo. Let's see if it works.

Everyone take good care of yourselves. I'm proud of all of us.

Great Pics! You are doing wonderfully. It's going to be a fab summer!

Lovely:

I am so sorry. I have been in that situation and in a time like this all I can say is that I am very sorry for the loss of your loved one. You have been in my thoughts and prayers today. I'm sorry I couldn't post earlier.

I agree with you about getting that excitement back. Although I wouldn't want to be back there waiting for surgery. I was one of the last ones and as my day approached the excitement decreased because people were recovering.

I am getting excited again. I am only 6.5 pounds from ONEderland and just shy of the 80lbs mark!!!!

I think we need to all post one positive thing (SV or NSV) every week! Let's hear it!

I am away from my home for the rest of the week and away from my scale. Please wish me luck. Eating out almost every meal. So far so good!

Ok I have a serious question......how is everyone doing so well with their weight loss? Seriously, you guys are rock stars!!!

How much exercise are you doing to have lost so much weight.

I'm down over 40 from my highest pre-band weight, but some of you guys flew by me miles ago!!

p.s. LoveIsLovely, I am so sorry for your loss. Sending you my best thoughts and a bigger hug.

LoveIsLovely - I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I'm still trying to get used to my new "slow loser" status. I should get another small fill middle of next week. Hopefully that will jump start me a bit. In the meantime, I am fitting better into those size 16s and shopping far too much!

cattoy71 - I do 45-60 minutes 4/5 days a week. I'm thinking of trying for 7 days a week for a couple of weeks to see if I can get off this damned plateau.

Dear Love:

So sorry for your loss. I've been trying to reply to this thread, but with the new infrastructure at lapbandtalk, I can't get some of my messages, or post. At any rate, I was really saddened to hear about this.

Don't worry Cattoy 1 - I'm a slow loser like you. The important this is we're losing! Slow and steady wins the race - although in this race we're all winners!

I've been trying to reply to this thread, but with the new infrastructure at lapbandtalk, I can't get some of my messages, or post. At any rate, I was really saddened to hear about this.

I have set my Subscribed Threads page as one of my home pages (I have vista) so that I can see right away if there is a new post on any of my threads. That has kept the frustration with the website at bay for me.

I work out 3-6 days a week. I keep my carbs pretty low which isn't hard since I am full after I eat my Protein anyway. I had my 3rd fill 2 weeks ago and I have my 4th in 2 weeks. I'm taking a big step too because I am taking a friend with me so I will be telling her about my surgery. I hope it is the right move. I get worried. So far the only ones that know are my hubby and a good friend and my doctor. My other friend's hubby told her she should come along with me. I got a kick out of that. (Her hubby is my doctor, so he knows and she doesn't.)

Anyway...keep moving along. I think everyone is doing great. Has anyone heard from Molly lately?

Thank you, WOW, it sure is tight, but I'm doing better day by Day. I sure had to change my eating habits. I'm eating a little bit more each day, still not getting the amount of food or Water I'm suppost to but it's hurting less as I eat & drink. I'm at 37 lbs down for the last 3 days. That might be a good thing as I continue to adjust to this last fill.

(From a different post) You said that when you 1st get a fill you have swelling, that's one of the quetions I was going to ask, WHY the pain?? That pretty much explains it. THANKS.

My 1st fill did not feel like much of a restriction but this 2nd one made me feel what a "REAL" restiction is like. It got my attention right away.

Just hanging in there and trying to understand what "THE BAND" is telling me.

Thanks to everyone for the help & incouragement.

Don

I have my fourth fill scheduled for next week. My surgeon is very conservative with fills and now gives me fills of .5ml every 4 weeks. I'm currently at 5ml in a 10ml band.

It's weird tho....I have yet to have one single pb episode...I did slime once, but have never had the pb experience.

I admit that I haven't been very good at exercising, but have recently been getting back at it. I really feel like it is the only way I will continue to lose weight (instead of flucuating back and forth the same 3 pounds).

You'd think that being self pay would be enough incentive to workout, but it hasn't been :)

p.s. thanks for replying to the exercise question

Congratulations and all the best for the upcoming surgery. Good to hear that you got your approval. It’s difficult to get approval my sister is waiting for her approval. She has her test all done and now anxiously waiting for her date, once the dietitian says yes. She has already talked to her doctor Dr. Nilesh Patel who will do laparoscopic Lap Band procedures for her. Laparoscopic Lap Band procedure has much advantage like fewer incisions and quicker recovery times, as well as decreased chances of complications during and after surgery. Will pray for your early recovery and good health.

LoveIsLovely, I am so sad to hear about your little one. Have not been on for a couple of weeks so did not know until today. Hugs and best wishes for exercise...I have not figured out how to be motivated to exercise. Tell me folks...how do you do it?

Well I had a PB today--bleh. I tried to eat a turkey sandwich for lunch and ate about 1/4 and it got stuck.

About exercise, I've joined a couple of challenge with co-workers and friends as well as just doing the group classes...both are helpful to me. The group stuff makes it so much more interesting! I go to the YMCA but I saw our community group offers group classes too.

Hope this helps!

I suppose the getting started in a group is the hardest part of getting into an exercise routine. Group exercise sounds great--creates accountability. I am joining a yoga class the first week in April. Hopefully that will be a place to get committed.

Hey everyone, thank you so much for your kind words, thoughts and prayers !! Really means a lot to me :hugs:!!!

Well my slow down has occurred. Yes I am still losing very slowly but is getting there. I upgraded my exercises and revamped my eating habits. I realized I had to bring up my calories as I enhance my exercise routine. I am now at 196!! Yeii and have a 6 month follow up visit with my doc tomorrow, so lets see what she says

Good luck to everyone and dont lose your motivation! We can do this! We have come so far! Almost half a year ago I was stuffing my face with a whole pizza pie and losing my breath with each bite, those days I remember with glory.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
