Gall bladder removal before lap band surgery

Recommended Posts

I was suppose to have lap band surgery July 17, 2008. However I just found out that I have to have my gall bladder removed.

1. I was wondering if we are suppose to be on a high Protein diet after lap-band or is the diet different if you have your gall bladder removed? :frown:

2. How long will I have to be on a liquid diet if I am having lapband surgery 2 weeks after July 17,2008 ?

3. I found out that dairy products, meat, or soft food such as eggs are discourage after gall bladder surgery? Most information leans towards low carb such as brown rice, low fat foods, and carbs meals. I am confused because I was told to eat more Proteins after the lapband surgery what diet is the right one?

I had my galbladder removed 5 years ago and don't ever recall having any dietary restriction.

No, no special diet after lapband. Your doc will prescribe a special diet due to surgery but the lapband was designed to 'not diet', but allow you to make more nutritious choices.

That's up to your doc. You'll find some are asked to do weeks and weeks, some just a few days, some just 1 day.

Discouraged? Never heard of that...but again, some docs may have discouraged it. Mine didn't.

Which diet is the right one? Well, I didn't diet. That's why I got the lapband so I wouldn't have to diet anymore.

I think your doctor is the best one to ask these questions and I have a feeling you are going to do so well. You are very cautious and show a sincere interest in doing what's right.

Keep us posted.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
