September Bandsters??

Hi Shawn, I had to laugh about what you said about your stomach girgling...like a clogged drain. My stomach too has been making the strangest noises and it makes me laugh. I wonder if this will eventually go away or if we will have to get use to the girgle girgle girgle...Hahaha. Congrats on your band and my prayers for a speedy recovery.

Hi DVSABoss, Sounds like you did GREAT at work on Sunday. Good for you! Just don't push yourself too hard. There must be a fine line between not getting enough exercise and over doing it. I know we should be getting some exercise, but I sure can feel it when I do over do it. It is amazing at how much more energy we have even from a small weight loss. I went to my surgeon yesterday and had my staples removed. I am down 17 lbs....YIPPPPPPPEEEE!!! I love my coffee too. At first it was like a tiny cup and I couldn't even finish that but now I'm up to two cups in the morning an hour before my Breakfast. Well Take Care and it's great to have this website for support and encouragement. I love it.

I worked a 12 hour day yesterday but thankfully mostly had to sit or stand. I notice when I hunch over when sitting it makes me pretty uncomfortable. Squishing my new little tummy I guess. Makes one want to sit up straight more which is not a bad thing I guess! I was tired by the end of the day, but tolerated it better then yesterday. Overall, I feel pretty darn great! Isn't it amazing how fast we're losing? I know we won't keep this pace forever and that's all right with me. If I lose too fast, I'll have way too much loose skin hanging from every direction! I want to get some substantial exercise in to help with that but have to wait another couple of weeks before the doc will ok it.

I have to take six medications (9 pills) a day...I split them taking half in the morning and half at night. Each time I take them it's like having a meal...I'm way full. I chop them down as small as I can but they still sit in my gut for a long time making me feel almost too full. How do others handle this? I can't stand the taste of pills (even mixing with food) so mashing is not an option for me. I'm hoping to be able to get off of them once I lose enough weight but that's down the road a ways.

My scars are healing way better then I thought they would. I have very fair skin which tends to make scars stand out more. Luckily these are so small (except the port scar which in my case is about 2 inches long...but hey! much smaller then my c-section(s) vertical scar!!!

Yikes gotta' run...gonna' be late for work!!!

Have an awesome day all...;-)

Hi Everybody!

I will be banded the day after tomorrow! That will be 9/22 on a Thursday. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I'm hoping for the best but prepared for the worst as far as the pain during recovery. I'm curious if wearing a bra hurts. I will be in and out the same day, unless there are some complications. I just hope that I will be able to walk around and move in an ordinary way. I am hoping to get back to work by Monday. I have a job that requires some computer work as well as doing errands like going to a bank and other institutions. I'm praying that all of you are recovering quickly and will be on the way to a healthier lifestyle very soon!

Best Wishes!

Cat

Hey Cat, My prayers and best wishes go with you as you get banded day after tomorrow. I too was nervous, but that is normal. We are always afraid of the unknown. I had my gall bladder out as well and am almost good as new 9 days later. The bra didn't bother me one bit, but everyone is different. Take Care and let us know how everything went...ok?

Good luck Cat - soon you'll be a big loser. I also had no problem with the bra - all of my incisions are between my pant and my bra but that depends on where your doctor pokes. I will be going back to work tomorrow - 9 days out from surgery - I will be thinking about you.

I was banded on 9-13-05 and went back to work fulltime plus 9-18-05 and I'm no spring chicken at 56 years old! I was truly amazed the recovery was so fast for me!!

I also do mostly computer work but often do trainings/meetings out in the community. I've had no problems other then a little fatigue after a long day (I generally work 10-15 hours a day.)

One of my incisions was just above my bra line between my breasts. It has not bothered me a bit. I'm a double D cup so there's plenty hanging around that could have been a bother!!!

I was up and walking an hour after I woke up from recovery...was a little unsteady on my feet but got better pretty quickly. My DH and I had to drive an hour to get home...I still felt awfully groggy so just wanted to get there and sleep it off. Once home I slept three hours and finally woke up with a pretty clear head. That in itself made me feel a whole lot better. I hate the effects of anesthesia.

You'll do great....I have never been so sure about this procedure...it is a life saver. Good luck and happy recovery everyone!

Hi Everyone!

Good news! My insurance approved my surgery! I was supposed to be banded the 26th, but since we just got approval they had to move it up a week so I will be banded on October the 3rd....so sadly I must leave the wonderful September bandsters to start an October thread. God Bless and Take care!

I was banded on Monday Sept. 19 and besides the burning at my port site and this darn gas, I feel good. I've been walking around the house just trying to get this gas out but that's not working so I had to send my fiance for some Gas-X, hope this will work. Congratulations on those banded and good luck for the that are to be banded!:)

Congratulations Vanesa on your banding! I am glad that you are feeling pretty good!

Pam, thanks for the info that you provided. I am 50 and have a rather large bust, so I was worried about the bra. I am glad you are doing so well also!

Well, tomorrow is B-day for me and I will join the rest of you bandsters!! I will be so glad when it's over.

All you people here are wonderful and I love the way you support one another. I'll let you know how I'm doing after surgery, so you'll get yet one more perspective of this life-changing surgery!!!

Best Wishes to all!

Cat

Keri and Cat...wishing you good thoughts...you will do great, you'll see!!!!

Yep! the gas is bothersome but it eventually goes away. Luckily I wasn't plagued by it too terrible bad...but let me tell you, I can pass gas pretty darn effectively by burping loud (often at inappropriate times) and farting huge amounts of air for what seems like an eternity. Now isn't that a pretty picture?!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
