Recommended Posts

I was banded on 7 April 2008, 6.5 weeks ago. No pre-op diet. Weight loss = 17 kilograms (or 37.5 pounds). Not bad for less than 7 weeks.

As of my weigh-in today I am no long MORBIDLY OBESE... just plain old OBESE :cursing:

I was banded on May 5th and including pre-op diet, I've lost 13 pounds. My doctor has put me on a full liquid diet until I see him on June 10th. I do have cottage cheese, but besides that it's only Soup and slimfast. I don't like the Protein Shakes. Sometimes I have smoothie. I started walking this week, I''m a slow healer so I have to take it easy.

WOW!!! You guys are doing great!!!

I was banded yesterday and I think I am the only person who has gained 2 pounds since surgery yesterday!!!!! :cursing: Hopefully it is just all of the fluids from the Ivs in the hospital!

Hey Terri!

Don't be hard on yourself. When you had your surgery they pumped you full of liquids, this is what is looking like a weight gain. I lost 12 pounds the 1st week, however, I did not show any loss until day 5 or 6. Once it started showing up I was losing a couple of pounds a day for a few days.

Hi everyone-

I'm with Terri actually. I was banded on 5/22, and have gained 8 lbs since then. Doc told me to expect it, from all the surgery stuff and from recovering and what not. Not too worried about it. Went for my first 1 mile walk yesterday, that felt really good (well first 1 mile post surgery anyway, before surgery I was playing soccer 4x a week, ha ha). recovery is going well, now am ready to see some lbs drop off!

best of luck to everone!!

I was banded on May 20th- Doc didn't give me a pre-op diet- but he definitely should have. I wound up having an enlarged liver and they had some difficulties and came close to not performing the surgery.

Thankfully, my band is in- which I have actually given a name= "Lily"... She is quite important to me and we have a long journey to get through together!

At my pre-op appt, I weighed in at a whopping 282- my all time high. I was shocked! I am only 5'2"- so I must look like a little suma wrestler! LOL

As of this morning, I am 269- bye bye 280's- bye bye 270's!!! I will Never be seeing you again!!!

WTG everyone- anyone have an NSV yet? (Non-scale victory)

I know it's kinda early, but those will be coming along Very Soon if not already!!!

XOXOXOXOXO to all

Hey, all...it's great to see how everyone is doing :) Our program was a bit different as we had a 12 wk class before surgery & this is when my weight loss began. I started 2/14/08 at 282.2; day of surgery was at 244.0 (so a loss of 38.2 prior to surgery). Today I'm at 230.8; so a total loss all together now of 51.4!!!

It is so great to so how everyone is doing. Everyone seems to be doing really well. I think motivation increases as the weight comes off. I had my surgery on May 9th and I'm down almost 16 pounds. I was on an Atkins type diet preop. I was on liquids for two weeks after surgery. I started mushy foods today. Yeah! Colleen

I had my surgery on May 2, I am down 19 pounds, but I have been stuck here for two weeks. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I have been back to a regular diet for 1 1/2 weeks. I've been eating eggs, chicken & veggies and walking. Any suggestions, is this normal?

I was banded on May 1st. I have lost 16lbs and am THRILLED with that. I have NEVER lost that kind of weight in less than a month. Most of the 16lbs came off the first 2 weeks after surgery and then I pretty much stopped too. When I went to the doctor he said that it is normal to slow and stop losing for a few days. First, your body has to adjust to your new weight. 2nd, you don't want to have too drastic of a loss... it's not healthy. I was not put on a pre-op diet, so that is why there is not more than a 16lb loss.

I was filled yesterday and I definitely feel the restriction (1.5cc's into a 5.0cc band). I had to do liquids yesterday and mushies for a couple of days. I expect to see the scale move again very soon.

Just because the scale is not moving, it doesn't mean that you aren't losing inches. You should take measurements of yourself. I am already down 2 pants sizes !!!

Also my doc told me to aim for 50-60g of Protein per day. If you go too much over that, it will slow down the weight loss.

Keep your chin up, you WILL succeed!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
