Good luck Porc! Check in and let us know how you're doing.

Christine, I am so wanting to go thrift store shopping for my new wardrobe.

I think I'm weird, but I love the comfortable, worn feeling of well-washed used clothing. I have some great stores where I buy all my stuff.

Confession - tonight was the first time I ate with nothing to sip (like I've supposed to have been doing all along). It really wasn't so bad. I'm hoping this helps kick-start the weightloss again. I've been banded for over 3 weeks, eating small amounts of food now and put a couple pounds back on. My body was just so use to liquids.

I have only lost 12 post op. But, I am patient. 20 total.

Porceline,

The worst part is not knowing. Now that you know, what a relief.

I did a couple of stupid things right after being banded and swore I caused permanent damage. I went for my follow up and my doc said "no worries". I cannot damage my band unless I vomit a lot. I still have pain occasionally where I can't sleep (3 weeks banded) I just take my liquid pain medication (really small amt) and that numbs everything in my tummy in about 30 seconds. It rocks! I can see how people get addicted to pain meds...

Porc, I'm so glad that Dr. K said it was nothing!!! Are you feeling any better yet? I stillhave one area that is VERY uncomfortable especially when I wear something with a waist band on it. It seems to be getting better every day but is still painful at times...

So Lisa where do you live? I live in the Dallas suburbs. I'm sure there are some great thrift stores around here but I haven't gone looking for them yet

I have started eating soft foods, My surgeon said I culd start eating rally tender meat now so I have tried...I actually feel like nothing has been done. I have had no problems eating anything and as of Tuesday of last week I have started being hungry. I don't think my surgeon pt anything in my band when he first put it in and I do not go in untill June 15 for my next appointment. I hope he gives me a fill at that time so I will feel like I do not need to eat!!!

I am trying to eat very small amounts of food but this is REALLY hard!!! Especially when I'm so hungy my co-workers can hear my tummy growl..... actually that part is pretty funny!! lol

I'm having surgery on Thursday the 26th. I asked for a dr excuse to miss work next week (anything over 2 days sick has to have an excuse) and my surgeon said I could be back on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday). What do you guys think?

Road Queen,

I am having surgery Friday morning May 27th and it has been my plan all along to be back in the office on Tuesday morning. I figured that I would heal faster if I kept somewhat active (I have a desk job), rather than laying in bed for an extra day or two. Just my humble opinion, but then again I have a pretty high threshold for pain... I've had root canals done in the AM and then headed back to the office.

I had gall bladder surgery 2 years ago and I had recouped enough after 3 days to return to work. My surgeon made me wait a week and I was bored stiff.

It will be just fine... Good luck with your surgery!

hey Queen,

I had surg on a Thursday, out of hospital on Friday, went to church Sunday, back to work on Monday...

You will do fine!!! I was actually amazed at how easy this has been. Today I am having some problems though, I lifted some things lastnight that I should not have and now am in pain!! So much so that I stayed home from work so I could rest and take pain med...

Hope you do as well as I have, you will be surprized how easy it is!!

Road Queen:

Try and play it by ear. I thought for sure as did my doc that I would be able to attend a conference 3 days post op/ no way. I was in no shape to sit in a chair all day. Your doc should be aware that you may need additional time and be willing to write the excuse if needed I'm sure he will.

I am 3 weeks today post op. went to 3rd doc appt. and got a fill. I have seen doc so much it is like I'm seeing another man! huh like one isn't enough. (sorry guys)

So far 24lbs down hope to see more with this fill. man it felt wierd. could actually feel the stuff going in. this has been an adventure!

First week sucked, 2nd week feel better with some limitations, 3rd week everything great, back playing racketball, it felt good to get things moving again.

Best of luck May bandsters, remember:

ATTITUDE...it's all there is between you and success!!

Wahoo dreamweaver! 15 pounds since surgery??? Thats amazing! Did you lose anything prior to your surgery? You sound like your doing great!! Congratulations!

Nope, not a pound lost before surgery. In fact, I gained 7 pounds from the time I scheduled the surgery in early May until my surgery on the 25th! Yep, suffered from that last supper syndrome real, real bad!

I know the nearly 15 pounds lost is mostly Water, BUT I'LL TAKE IT!!!

Still on Clear Liquids. Only had some watered down juice, sf popsickles, broth and sf Jello. So I guess it's no wonder I am losing fast. I know it will slow way down once I am on full liquids. But I am sure enjoying the jump start!!

By the way, my recovery has went amazingly well. Had a lot of gas the 2nd day but that was the worst. Very little pain. Am even able to sleep on my stomach!

Hey Wavetimer, we are band twins! I had my band done on the 17th of May as well here in Oklahoma City. I am doing great too. The staples come out Tuesday. And I get to see how much I have lost since my doctor doesn't want us to weigh until our 2 week post-op appointment. I am glad to hear that so many people are doing so well, Keep up the good work and I will keep everyone posted.

Congratulations to you both, "dream" and "littlebig"....

Each day gets easier and easier. The liquid phase sucks, but its worth it. Even IF its only Water weight loss....your right, take it. If it was that easy to get rid of we would have long before the band;-) I lost 10 pounds prior to my surgery...my surgeon requires it. But thats great that you did it all AFTER surgery dream!!! I can't believe your sleepin on your belly all ready! I am jealous. I think I was just way too afraid of my body after the surgery. I was afraid to move!! Good for you both and good luck on your new adventures!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
