I got banded March 17 and have an AP-L band and got my first fill today of 4.5cc's in a band that holds 14 total.

They said I can schedule my 2nd Fill for 6 weeks from today.

Today was my second fill 1.5cc in a 10 cc band. Had surgery 3/19/08 and my first fill was 2.5 cc on 4/15/08. My doctor usually does fills on a monthly basis and was reluctant to give me another fill since it's only been 2 wks. since my first fill. I went in for a follow-up on sonogram results (not related to the band) and practically begged him for a fill since I've been soooo hungry. So far since surgey I've lost 23 lbs.

I was banded on 3/21/08 and am scheduled for my first fill this Thursday 5/1/08. I have lost 20 lbs so far but most of it was lost during the liquids (2 weeks pre-op and 2 weeks post-op) and a little more during mushies (2 weeks). I have been on solids now for just under 2 weeks and i have basically been maintaining but i am definitely in bandster hell!! I am trying to listen to my body's "full signals" and have been trying to chew, chew, chew as practice. Though to be honest i am still eating much larger portions than i expected and i do not have any problems even if i let a large unchewed bite slip by.

I am a very all or nothing kind of "dieter" and i am trying with all my might not to be that way with the Lap Band. For me this journey is all about moderation. To me, the time between my surgery and first fill is time for healing, not losing. Any loss is a bonus. I am following my doctor's rules. He has not said to restrict myself to 1 cup or less or anything like that so i eat approved foods in the quantity i am able to and leave it at that. I eat when i'm hungry and try to stop when i'm full. Doing that has kept me pretty steady at my current weight which itself is a victory since i NEVER MAINTAIN! (It is always either up or down... i'm very all or nothing, remember!)

But i will be honest. I am ready to lose. I am ready to see this band in action. I am ready for my first fill. I have faith, but i am ready for some reassurance that the band will help me to eat smaller quantities.

Good luck everyone. It's been quite a journey so far!!

Had my first fill this morning - 4 cc - nothing in the band before this. I am STARVING on the liquids and just hope I will start feeling restriction once I start eating solids again...

I had my first fill today - I didn't feel a thing - it was over in seconds. Dr Haag gave me 3cc in my AP-L band and told me that I should know within a week if I have restriction and that I can come back right away if I am still feeling starved. I feel fine tonight - but I am only on liquids today - tommorow he told me to have some mushies and see how it goes. He was very happy with my weight loss up to now. What an adventure this is and it sure is fun to share it with all of you!

First fill today.....total non-event.....I fretted over it all day and it was truly nothing!

Doc says I'm right on track and doing great. I've been frustrated because the numbers haven't changed for 10 days......but they will.

Back on liquids for 24 hours and mushies for 24 hours....no biggie.

My doc also said that if I'm not feeling the restriction I can come back in next week for MORE.....hoping this does the trick for a while though!

I was banded on 3/12 my first fill was on 4/16 with 2cc in a 10 cc band. I had to go back on 5/2 for a second fill and was told that there was only really 1.5 cc because of air bubbles etc. So he put in 3.5 cc and I had great restriction until Sunday. Now I don't feel much at all. I had Peanut Butter sandiwich and 3 scrambled eggs for dinner without a problem. I read somewhere that sometimes the fills take a few weeks to "kick" in and I don't know why that would be. I scheduled for another fill next Friday which will be 2 weeks again from the last one. I'm hoping I will find my "spot" soon. I've lost 18 lbs since my surgery and 21 lbs all together. Doesn't seem like enough for the exercising I'm doing and the calorie intake I've had. Today was unusual amount of food.

Hoping this will kick in soon

I had my first fill today. The surgeon said I have a #10 band which is a 4cc band, he put 2cc's in it. I feel fine and it seemed like I had less to eat for dinner. I ate Soup to play it safe. I am looking forward to more restriction. I lost 5 more pounds since the last visit.

I had my first fill 4/29 with 3cc in... I felt some restriction at first... what I mean is that I've noticed certain foods that I cant eat like breads. I still have problems with eating slowly and chewing all the way so i've PBed 3 times since my fill. But I am very hungry must of the time. I stop eating because I am trying to control my portion size, but I feel hungry and its frustrating. I have an appt next Tuesday hopefully they'll put more saline in to have more restriction...

My first fill yesterday! my appointment had been rescheduled twice, so i was thrilled i finally made it yesterday.

I got 2.4ccs. I was a bit nervous after seeing a video on a post here where the dr. "dug" around looking for the port. But after giving me numbing agent (lidacaine, whatever) he used xray to go directly into port, no pain at all, and it was a breeze.

fill couldn't have come at a better time, haven't been eating as much as pre-band, but i know i've been eating too much. this past weekend, hubby and i went to laughlin and i had lobster (cant turn down lobster!) and ice cream (just 2 of the many things i shouldnt have had). i am hating the clear liquid stage now since i had been eating food, but i know its what i need! today i was craving food, just food, anything edible sounded great, lol. think pms is affecting that a bit too though. now i'm looking forward to some serious weight loss!

hi all... i was banded on 3/3 and was filled a little earlier than most. unfortunately, starting early just meant i started have problems sooner.

my otherwise extremely skilled surgeon (as well as his pa and another doctor in his practice) has had lots of difficulty accessing my port. apparently, due to the way my weight loss has gone and the slope/shape of my abdominal wall, my port tilts downward in a strange way. translation: i've been, poked, prodded and left black and blue each and every time i've gone for a fill. i wouldn't have minded any of it if i'd felt any restriction. sadly, i had squat to show for any of it.

then yesterday, we finally resorted to a fill under a fluoroscope. you'd think that would have made things easier and less painful, right?! alas, it took nearly my surgeon, a radiologist, a fluoroscopic specialist, 2 lidocaine injections and nearly one hour to access my port and fill it with 5ccs of saline. it was the most painful session to date. i'm a pretty stoic woman, but i locked myself in the bathroom stall afterwards and had a good cry.

i'm on liquids for another day, so it's hard to tell if it worked. but i'm optimistic, especially since they had me do a barium swallow afterwards to see what kind of restriction i have. from what i saw on the monitor, i should be at my sweet spot... at least for awhile!

here's hoping the rest of you have less painful fills!

I had my first fill on April 15 (surgery March 5), 4 cc in a 10 cc band. For 3 weeks I felt nothing, then suddenly this past week I've felt restriction on and off. The feeling is like a bit of delayed reaction, where I'll eat too much and not know for half an hour, but at least it's something! Going in again tomorrow for more fill; I hope the doc isn't scared to give me a good shot of it.

My doc didn't let me see the needle until she was done. I have to say I'm glad -- the sucker is huge!! I was grateful for the numbing shot first.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
