Marchies Bandiversary Month

Recommended Posts

Well, I did my one year photos last night, but have to wait to post them until my dh hooks up my old computer so I can find my "before" photos. I think I still look like crap. My thighs, well lets just say cottage cheese. Like I said before, when I look in the mirror, I don’t think I look bad. But photos tell a different story. I though that with only 39 lbs to goal I would look a lot more different. Maybe I will think differently after I find the before photos so I can compare.

Congrats to everyone!

I'm so excited to see that there are so many "one-derful" ladies out there.

You are all such an inspiration. I've been struggling with the same 4 lbs too. I was hopig to be in onederland by the end of the year and that has come and gone, so I started to beat myself up again. bad me LOL

No more beating myself up. I've got to get the time to excersise more, I think I'm going o invest in an eliptical machine, I really like those, any advice on getting something inexpensive and not too big?

Nikki,

I can't tell you what to buy, but I can encourage you!

You can lose those pounds and get into ONE-derland, and you will! You've got the right attitude. No more excuses! Few calories in and more burned!

Rock on Chica!

Nikki,

I got lucky and got mine at a Goodwill. I just need to use if more ofter. Check out craigslist.org and see what you can find.

I have come to the conclusion that I am a slow loser. I was hoping to be at goal in a year, but if I get close to it by summers end, I will be one happy lady. And I also need to kick up the exercise, or to be totally truthfull, I need to get back to it like I was before.

Mrs. H, i I think you have done great so far keep it going.. i hope to be at goal by the end of summer... at least my surgeons goal of 165lbs.. as long as this weather gets better here in chicago (it looks like 50'sthis week but lots of rain:angry:) and i can finally go walking (or should i say "running") with my dog... My dog likes to pull until i am running with him.. i can't run to far but its a lot further than before..

We have all come a long way from where we started..!!!

I think im going to start making mini goals for myself... First goal is to lose 7lbs by April 19.. i think that is entirely possible...

Sorry if i rambled a little to much but i am feeling very optimistic today!!:)

Heck Jeni, you are only a 10.8 lbs from losing 100 lbs!! Now that is kicking some butt. I also hope to start walking again this summer. I love walking. And I work in a state park so I get to see some beautiful scenery plus wild turkey and deer. I need to get back into the pratice of getting to work early enough so I can walk in the mornings, thats the best time to walk around here. I do walk around my neighborhood with my gf at night, but she never shuts up and there are times when all I want to do is walk and be in my own head.

I am very excited about being that close to the 100lb lost.. but more excited about the increase in confidence and the loose fitting clothes which mean new clothes!!!

And i know what you mean... sometimes it is nice to get away so you can think and get some quiet time alone.....Thats why i go with my dog lol. :)

I love seeing all the transformations!!!! Everyone looks awesome and I can't wait to see more so keep posting those pics!

I was completely unfilled about 3 weeks ago and I am holding on for dear life to the pounds that I have lost. After the first week I was really struggling so I cheated by going back to my diet drug of choice, phentermine, to suppress my appetite. I took phentermine on and off for over 10 years and now my body just laughs at it. It worked for a couple weeks and got me down to 180lbs, but now the pills are barely working and I wan't to eat everything in sight. I am scheduled for a fill on Monday, but will probably only get a small fill because of the problems I was having. I'm praying that I can tolerate being filled again. I need restriction BAD!!!!!!

Hello Everyone,

Happy Anniversary! I have loved watching you post your pictures and seeing the incredible changes. You guys are doing great, keep up the good work!!:) Mrs. Husker I am still around everyday lurking, thank you for your thoughts.:huh2:

It's been 1 month today since my band slipped. I am up about 6 lbs, but like my doc said, and I truly believe, I was really sick so not eating for days is a couple of those pounds.

It is extremely hard with out the band, I thought maybe with having had the band on for 11 months there would have been some restriction perhaps, even my stomach had shrunk. NOPE!

Anyway, saw the doc yesterday, and I told him I definietly wanted the band back. I have anthem blue cross and Blue Shield out of Kentucky and I have been told they are no longer covering any type of bariatric surgery. However, my DH talked to them and they think I may be grandfathered in of having a revision. Doc absolutely won't do it until after June 1. UGH!

But he said he would work with me anyway he could to get it through. Also

since having the first lapband put on, they came out with another type of band that has been successful in not slipping, so this could be a very good thing. I will be high risk for another slip, but this should help.

So these days I am doing sparks people and tracking my 1200 cals a day. I have been running on the treadmill, and I love to dance to You Tube songs. I eat huge omelette's loaded with egg whites and tons of mushrooms and onions.

I went from a size 26 pants and 3x shirt to my current 18ish pants and regular XL shirts, so at this point it is livable although not ideal.

My words of wisdom is: to not overexert in lifting, I cant help but wonder if it was a contributing factor. Do not get into PBing "episodes" that don't stop, wretching is so bad. If your way to tight get a unfill, a loose band is better then no band at all. My doc says that the average persons band lasts between 5- 8 years. If you can lose the weight and maintain using the band it is a win, win situation.

After reading some of the other threads of people saying they are at goal and want it taken off, I say they are friggin crazy. LOL

JANINE!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so glad you're lurking! You're one of us! I'm pleased to see you are pursuing getting rebanded. I think your doctor is wise to let you heal longer before rebanding you.

Caution is a good thing.

Much love,

Juli

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
