We need new pictures! I'm going to do some before and afters today, considering it IS my anniversary! I just need to see if the 6 year old kiddo can take them for me. It's always a crap shoot with her and the camera.

And my friend who usually takes them for me is refusing to dig out her car from the 14 inches of snow we got, just to capture me today. Worse case scenario, I'll get them done on Monday.

Denise, 91 pounds is fantastic! I'm at the same since surgery!

Mrs Husker-- big W00T for breaking your plateau! That always feels good.

OH Julie--WOW great avatar pic! You look hot! And you are so close to onderland, you will get there soon I'm sure.

Everyone--we are doing great at 1 year. Big props to all!

I finally got into the size 8 jeans the other day, that was a big NSV for me. :clap:Running really seems to help. I can only run for 6 minutes at a time so far, and last night I did a total of 17 minutes in 4 blocks over a 49 minute session on the treadmill. It's getting better, easier (a little).

About sizes, I think it's funny that the sizes we hated when we were gaining weight, we LOVE when we lose weight again. I remember MANY years ago getting to a size 10 and being disgusted that I was in "double digits". Wow, that was probably 15 years ago? I never saw size 10 again until a couple of months ago, and it was like a long lost friend. Of course, sizes are a little bigger than they were 15 years ago...(shhhh!) :)

OK, ladies, have a great weekend and happy bandiversary to the early Marchies!

I posted this on the pic forum, but I thought I'd share here too. The first ones are the night before surgery, I was 290. The others were done yesterday/today.

My highest known weight is 338. I need to find a pic of me at that weight I'm willing to show.

Julie - Amazing transformation! You look really great!

Janine - I'm sorry you lost your band, but happy that you are safe and healing. I am confident that you will overcome this obstacle in your life. You are and inspiration to me.

TammyJ - I think it's wise to get an unfill, and hope it helps.

I'm glad I have the opportunity to step back and look at the overall picture, since it's been a year. Going through the day-to-day has been a bit emotional and frustrating. I lost all my 32 lbs the first 6 months, and then have managed to yo-yo up and down 6 lbs this past 6 months. I did see 185 in Feb, but was 188.8 on my 3/5 anniversary day. I just can't be consistant. I know it's the head work I need to be doing, because my band is working fine. I don't always have the emotional energy to do the head work. I get so tired of it sometimes, and I think it's because I've been fighting this weight loss battle since age 13. My calories are 1200-1500, and I find it hard to stay in the 1000-1200 range, which is what I seem to need for weight loss. I'll do major workouts for 4 weeks, then nothing for 2 months. I's been a rough winter, and I'm hoping spring will help me snap out of it.

Thanks for listening to my concerns, now to look at the positives....This is the least weight I've maintained in my adult life. I've lost a total of 30.5 inches, 3% body fat, and am no longer "obese". I can finally control my portion sizes. My husband can't keep his hands off me. People are complimenting. I'm off one blood pressure pill and haven't needed my anti-depressant. These really are great accomplishments for 1 year!

You guys are all doing wonderful. I'm so greatful for this group. I don't share about my band experience with anyone but this forum, and I appreciate that you guys are here.

OH Juli, you just look fantastic. What a difference a year makes!

You've inspired me to post my pictures. I can't get a picture small enough for LBT to accept it as an avatar...:) ...but I'll post some here.

I am so glad I took "before" pictures, even though I avoided the camera like the plague then. I look back and realize it was worse than I even realized then!

Let's see if this works....

I seem to remember that at one time we had a list of everyone that was going to be banded in last March with their band date. I thought that TammyJ did it. Does anyone know where it went and what about putting it here? We could update it with our weight loss as our banddates approach.

Hello Everyone glad to see before and now pics of you. I've only taken one since losing weight. Not sure if it came out for someone else took it. I felt confident enough to take it at that time. Just seeing these pics I am so much inspired to lose weight each and every day.

I've come to giving up going by the scale and just looking for my clothes to tell me of my weight loss. I'm more eagar to get into smaller sizes now than the weight on the scale.

I've come from size 28/26 to 20/22. I'm going shopping on Saturday and I'm going straight for size 18's and 20's. Wish me luck. The pants I'm wearing now are drooping in the croutch.

Mrs Husker looking forward to seeing your pics.

Denise, I'm looking forward to getting into 14's or 16's like you. I think that's where I'll be at my best.

Sophie285, I'm also tired of playing the head game. That's why I changed to having my clothes tell me of my weight lose, rather than the scale. The scale is driving me crazy, especially with its ups and downs depending on what I've eaten a day or two maybe three before. So, maybe you should give you clothes a chance in letting you know when you've lost weight.

So, let's all get and keep moving towards our goal.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
