March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Recommended Posts

Lynn! I love how you're rocking your band!

I'm sorry about Cobi - I hope the vet can help. In any case, he or she will be able to give you a clearer idea of what to do next.

Fenton - not sure how well I am "rocking my band" will know more after weighing in at DR this afternoon.

Called the vet and my dog and I will visit the vet this Saturday.

Nice work, Kathy! I really do think exercise is key.

And Lynn? You're 3/4 of the way to goal! You're rocking the HECK out of that band!

Sharing a cross link over to a post I added on the Fitness and Exercise forum to some forms I created for tracking workouts if they would help any of the Shrinking Shamrocks!

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f81/daily-workout-log-forms-84296/

Trying to kick it into a higher gear with more exercise in 2009 and tracking what I'm doing and VARYING it so I won't get bored and slack off.

Exercise has GOT to be my goal for 2009!

I suspect I'd be almost to goal if I'd been faithfully exercising!

UGH!! weighed in at my DR. today.. gained 5#, but it puts me back at my weight just before Thanksgiving

Also, got 1cc fill.. back to liquids for a day or 2, so that will probably drop some of that 5#

Thanks, Special K - I took a look at the sites you set up for fitness

Fenton can I admit that I can't wait to see how much weight you have lost when you do venture onto a scale? It's oh so true!

so cold, sweaters, blankets, all the time to keep warm!! I lost my insulation, or deflated it with the weight loss..LOL, but not complaining, feel great and look dam good!!!

I can't believe how cold I am. BRRRrrrr.... My family thinks I am nuts!!!

I have been working on and off trying to accomplish the Couch to 5K program. We bought a treadmill for Christmas so now I need to get serious about it. With some advice from a few C25k buddies I was able to run 10 minutes straight this morning. FINALLY. I plan on running a 5k in 2009.

My DH wants to go white Water rafting this summer. I would never go before because I was afraid the life vest would not fit. So there is another thing I would like to do in 2009.

Christine! Don't get your hopes up!

I've been pretty slack the last couple of weeks - eating more, excercising less. I'll climb onto that sonuvagun on Friday, but I'm just hoping I haven't *gained* now!

But I'm excited for 2009. I think my gym membership is on its way to being worked out, and I'm feeling good about eating less, and I just got three new yoga DVD's - the world is my oyster!

Potentially!

And yay for white Water rafting!

I am excited about 2009 as well.

I am determined to make good things happen in my life.

I love my job, but I am hoping for a position with a little more responsibility. Truly hoping to move in to sales...been sowing some seeds in that regard and hoping the boss has been paying attention!

We have a vacation planned in May.....a cruise with ten of our friends. It will be just an absolute blast. I WILL be at goal by then and I am envisioning myself on the beach in Jamaica wearing a swimsuit!

My daughter is becoming more and more of a wonderful human being. She delights me at every turn and I get excited watching her become a woman. She's very good at it.

Anyway.....I'm bringing good things in to my life....and excusing negative things.....negativity is such a soul sucker.

I am wishing good things and success for all of us!

You guys have become a very important part of my support group. Even if I don't post everyday, I do read every day!

HERE'S TO A WONDERFUL, HEALTHY, HAPPY AND SLENDER 2009!

Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy New Year!!!!

I am at home with my DH and 12 year old DS. We have been eating Snacks (I can't believe how much I have eaten) and playing games. We just took a break to watch "America Funniest Home Videos" I love to hear my DS laugh. I still have buffalo wings and mozzerella cheese sticks to bake. Ughh...

This weigh in will be a bust. Tomorrow is a new day - a new year.

OK, Shamrocks!

TIME TO PAY THE PIPER!!!

We've all been pretty slack in the last couple of weeks I'm sure, maybe with the exception of a couple of praiseworthy individuals, but now it's time to face the reckoning, and see how much damage we've done. I know I've been bad - I desperately want to say, "No! Wait! Let's do this on Monday instead! I'll start watching my intake today, lose the Water weight, and shine on Monday!"

But NO! Today is Friday...

TODAY IS MARCH BANDSTER WEIGH-IN DAY!!!

I'll seeya on the other side...

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
