Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Here I am! I went to the plastic surgeon today, Haydee.

Ok, first of all he was an awesome doctor. Rated one of the country's best plastic surgeons...so I have total confidence in him AND he was extremely nice and easy to talk to. Fancy-schmancy offices right in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. He said that my skin is aging prematurely :( and that yes, I probably should get some work done. (It's because I hit menopause SO early...at like 45. I never go out in the sun and I take very good care of my skin.) He gave me 3 options:

Option I: A full face lift (yep! that's what I figured), brow lift (which is a separate procedure) and neck liposuction (for my double chin which is very apparent in profile). Recovery time 10-15 days.

Option II: Brow lift, laser skin resurfacing on the lower part of my face, and botox injections. He said this will really firm up the skin and will be a good temporary measure until the time I want to do a facelift. 5-7 day recovery

Option III: Blepheroplasty (eyelid surgery only), laser resurfacing and botox. 3-4 day recovery.

I forgot to ask him about a Tummy Tuck. But I doubt I can afford that anyway, nor do I have the time off to dedicate to it.

They're supposed to email me the prices for all this stuff...but I haven't gotten it yet.

I think I'm going to go with Option II...or something like that. I have an appt with another doctor on April 4 who I'll bet is a lot cheaper (he's in the suburbs) but also comes highly recommended. I'll probably do this in early June or July.

I was glad Richard went with me. He's very supportive and says I can do whatever I want....although he hasn't seen the bill yet! so we'll see.

It's a STUNNING day here today so after the docs we went out to lunch in mid-town and I had a yummy ahi tuna dish and some crab bisque. Then we went to the grocery store and now I'm home finally! Pooped!!

I'll BBL!!

Tracy and Pam, Adam is very creepy. In the first episode he called Autistic people 'retards', having an autistic niece I was very very offended. My sister also said the group "Autism Speaks" sent out an email that called for an apology and stuff.

YEA LAURA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay I am allergic to nuts and carry an epi pen with me, I have new insurance and went to have it filled are you ready for this $100.81!!! Holy cow is all I can say! Hope I don't need it before Gruene!! The good thing is I very rarely ever use it, just something I have to have in case. Crazy!

I am jealous of all you having ps consults, but I know you will have beautiful results!!!

A very poor Jane

Jane, some pharmeceutical companies will make exceptions to that cost! I know I read about it in the paper not long ago.

I used to carry one, for unexplained hives----my throat swelled up a couple of times....but they went away as wierdly as they began! Go figure!

Have you thought about getting them out of the country?

Going to go speak with my goofy husband now that he is off the phone....bb in awhile!

Just getting ready to sit down with my turkey chili. I can't believe the site was down for you all day Laura! That sucks.

Yay Terry! I forgot you had your consult today. I had TracyK look at my benefits booklet from work and all obesity related stuff is completely not covered. Boo... So it looks like I'm gonna have to save up my money and head back down to Mexico. Probably next year. All I want is a basic tummy slashing, whatever that is called. No muscle repair no contouring, nothing like that. I just want this big belly out of my way. And since I'm still planning on having kids I will probably need more extensive work later on in life... I'll be patient for perky boobs and a tight ass!!

Jane - who's Adam? He sounds like a creep!

BBL...

Laura- Congrats on the Loss. That's awesome.

Haydee- How exciting for you and your sister. You will be a great motivator to her.

Long day today and another long day tomorrow. We had one of the goofiest ladies in today. I love meeting new people.

Jenn- It's nice to know that you have a job to fall back on but still dissapointing that you lost the one worked hard to get. I'm still holding out hope for you that an even better job will come your way.

Hubby is on his 4th day of not smoking. I'm so very proud of him.

Everyone have a great evening.

I carry a case of benadryl "just in case". We actually have never had a situation. ONE time he thought a peanut was in a salad and he felt weird, but the benadryl and he stopped eating it, and he was alright.

Lindzie's grandma is so allergic to shellfish, that if they eat it for dinner, they have to shower before going to her house! She come over here once last fall, and Lindzie had been eating chips and salsa, and touched her on the arm, and her arm got finger shaped hives----she said it was because the chips had iodized salt on them! I cannot imagine being that allergic.

Is it all nuts Jane? I would be sooooo lost, that is one of my main snack items. Well was before this tooth fiasco.

I do not have a bone chip, I have a spur on the socket around where the tooth was. I am like Terry I have options! I can have the gum cut, and the place smoothed...I can have a skin graft put over it to cushion it....or I can try to let it gradually smooth itself.

Gee----that's hard! I am not having more surgery on the damn thing!

Tracy--Rick brought me home a box--so I will do my best to get the shirts mailed tomorrow! When you see me here, tell me to get off the computer and get with it!

Michelle, I knew you were drooling over Judy's new baubles....but when you were ask about it, it just hit me, we have a sliming smiley. So then when I went to the smiley list to find him....I also run across the PB'ing one!!! How fitting for the site!!!

Suzanne---I did it! I got all my liquid in today----I just knew you would be so proud of me!!! LOL---I will likely be up all night peeing now!!!

Yep Pamela, that is exactly what Manda said Tomas was. I looked at the black and thought Goth, she corrected me. I just know to look at him, he looks very unhappy, and timid....and while as a person my former DIL seems nice enough, she uses people like crazy. He looks like a target for so many things!

It used to creep me out that my Uncle was a mortician. But he is very staid, and respectful. He did 4 tours in Vietnam. He has bylines of several pictures in the Time Life books---his last 2 tours his job was as a photographer. He has a trunk full of pictures, and his will is that it be burned when he dies, never opened. He said he cannot ever get the pictures out of his mind, but he can help those that die now, be buried with dignity....something seriously lacking in Vietnam.

I also have an Uncle who is a Dr.....so if one can't cure me-----the other takes over!!!

Well I am gonna read my mail and call it a night.

See ya tomorrow!!

Jane-the key word is PS "consult". I have not been told yes by insurance , just maybe "if you can prove this this and this...". If they say no I will have a long wait too. I am just gonna dive in and see what happens. It isn't like I have never been told no before!!

Suzie-I am happy that your dh is doing well. Tmorrow will be one weel for me without a cigarette. It is a tough thing to do!

*Start Confession*

Moooo.....mooooo. OMG! Yesterday was my worst day ever! I can not wait until there is no EASTER candy around! Between that and not being able to smoke I was a bad bad girl yesterday. I am not going to list it all out. Just trust me that I reverted back to the fat girl mentality all day! Thank GOD today is a new day and my brain is back on track!

*End confession*

Today macy and I are going to visit mom. DH is working and it is supposed to be a pretty day. I hope you all have a great Easter weekend!

Laura-way to go on the -101!!!!!!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
