All my first initial appts have been via zoom they record my weight at 222 and today I went to my dietician appt. She weighed me and usually I’m like 221-220. Today I was 219.8. Which lowered my bmi to 39.9 but I know
Tomorrow I’m going to wake up 220-221 again. What can I do ? I don’t want to unqualify because of it. I have another appt tomorrow with my primary for my EKG. Will they consider that weight too ? My weight today kept fluctuating between 220-219 she just chose the lowest weight. What do you guys think ?

I can't speak for all insurance companies, but most seem to use the weight you were when you first entered the program.

I went in at 191 but I am only 5', have diabetes, high cholesteral and high blood pressure. My was approved. at least 2 before your surgery the dr will put you on a diet with liquids and Proteins. so they will be expecting you to lose a little. I wouldnt stress over losing a few pounds, I think it depends on health improvements they expect to happen

Please do not worry about your weight so much. My surgeon asked me to keep a low carb high Protein diet. Your weight will fluctuate and they are aware of it. You will be at least two weeks prior to the surgery on a liquid diet and you will loose weight drastically at that time.

Regardless of the weight, your underlying health conditions weigh heavy in that decision. Moreover, they will probably use the first weight when you just came in. I recall my doctor saying that “ you should not gain weight”.

I would ask your doctor what weight that they will use. My doctor documented the weights that she had access too, like she documented evefrything she could pull out of mychart, and then in her paragraph wrote I encountered heather on may 2nd 2022 and her weight was 282. at last presentment on august xx, Heather weight 272.

My office told me which visit would be considered my preop weight. I would ask them. My bmi was exactly 40 pre op so I had to be careful not to lose weight on the pre op diet until that appt. The day of my surgery the nurse entered in my weight wrong - 254 instead of 264 so my bmi was in the 38 range. I didn’t end up having any issues with insurance thankfully.

Put on your heaviest shoes. Have loads of change in your pockets. Wear winter clothes. Sorry that's all I've got

I believe they will use your “initial” weight when you went in for your consultation?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
