Chewing Beef Jerky without swallowing the solids

Recommended Posts

I am officially one week post-op. I love beef Jerky and of course know it's way to early to start eating it. But the thought crossed my mind to chew on it for the flavor and spit out the solids. Any comments from anyone who may have tried this and what your results were. Thanks in advance.

I would find the risk of impulse swallowing too great to try chewing solid food before the plan gives that green light. It's only a few weeks, for what it's worth. Maybe try Bone Broth and beef clear Soup if it's the flavour you're craving?

I think the issue here is the chewing will activate your digestive system, which will produce stomach acid to digest the food, except there won't be any food and the acid may cause acid reflux or possibly be too harsh on an empty stomach.

I wouldn't do that. Stick to your clinic's food plan.

It's not recommended to chew and spit out solid foods, even if it's just for the flavor, as this can disrupt the healing process and negatively impact your weight loss progress after bariatric surgery. It's important to stick to a clear liquid diet for the first few weeks post-op and then slowly transition to pureed and soft foods as recommended by your doctor or dietitian. It's important to follow their guidelines and avoid any foods that may not be suitable for your specific type of surgery.

Make your own by boiling the Jerky in Water or Swanson/or whatever beef broth. Maybe that would extract the jerky flavor. I made my own veggie broth by boiling them for a while and straining the broth off. So much better tasting the store bought. Be wary of the sodium in store bought broth and stocks.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
