New Job, New Insurance, No More WLS Coverage :(

Recommended Posts

So, my new insurance provider, Cigna, is not covering weight loss surgery--it is excluded for my company's policy with them.

I contacted Sage Bariatrics, and self-pay for Gastric Bypass is $15k.

I know there is a cheaper option in Mexico (OCC), and have sent them some questions.

Can anyone recommend any other center of excellence that might have decent pricing, either in the USA, someplace else in the world?

Thanks!

I didn’t use them but have heard of people going to Vegas and getting reasonable prices.

I had called Blossom, and they apparently do not perform Gastric Bypasses.

But thanks!

I went to HospitalBC in Mx and had surgery with Dr. Illan. I was very pleased with the entire experience and am happy with my results. I've written in more detail elsewhere, so feel free to look up those posts and I'll spare the duplication.

I know a lot of folks from Europe go to Turkey. I think it's even cheaper than MX, though travel costs from the US may eat up the difference?

I am in South Florida and was self pay, my Sleeve total came to $11,500. Bypass may be a little more.

I used Dr Shillingford and had a great experience. Might be better than going to Mexico.

I'm in GA, but am working with Alabama Surgical Associates. https://www.alweightlosscenter.com/payment-options/self-pay-pricing/. I have UHC and our policy doesn't cover any bariatric procedures. So far I had a phone consult with Dr. Doucette. He wants me to lose 30 pounds before surgery - which because of my work schedule should be the end of Dec. I have a weight check in call with the Dr. in 2 weeks.

My son-in-law's cousin had the sleeve done in Mexico and was very pleased with the results. I believe she lives Ohio or Indiana. Flew in got it done and flew back within a few days.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
