Hi Everyone: I was sleeved years ago, and went well. 3 weeks ago my daughter who is special needs had to get sleeved. Long story. But she was doing great in hospital then week later started. They did sleeve and herina repair. She started with shoulder pain for almost week. got threw but in process went from drinking well to now nothing. She wants no food and or drinks. Been 2 times and fluids. perks her up for day but then right back. Now to point fighting with to even get a drink of Water in her. And she has this dry nagging cough. That seems to be more and more. Sounds like going to throw up alot too. when does drink its like stuck and don't want to go down. Has anyone had this? Been back and fourth daily with doctors office but keep sending for more fluids. Any ideas what could be going on? Just wondering if anyone has had this? Getting very scard for her.

Wow, this sounds like something most of us here are not equipped to advise on. All I can say is go back to the doctor and push it until they do something different. Maybe to a gastroenterologist?

Please go back to the surgeon. This needs to be investigated. IV fluids might help her.

I’m just going to say this because no one else has yet—While you didn’t elaborate on the nature of her special needs, I’m concerned with your characterization that she “had” to have the surgery. Was it not her decision?

I was like that. Really struggled to eat and drink and they were talking about a feeding tube. Milk (I hated it before the op) was my life saver with sugar free flavouring (just a drop). I’m 2 months out and just starting to come right now. Can have soft food.

I also got the blocked drain sound and felt like it was stuck in my throat. I was told it was swelling and can take ages to clear. The more you force your self the worst it is.

The only advice I can give is to just keep going to the doctor and be annoying if you have to. If they say they are just sending you for fluids again ask why. Are they thinking this is going to just clear itself up? When should you expect this to get better?? I would just keep asking questions until they do something that seems proactive. And if that doesn’t work maybe see another surgeon. Does her primary know about the situation? Maybe he can help you advocate for her.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
