Water Retention on Pre Op Liquid Diet

Recommended Posts

This is really for the ladies…
Anyone have their pre-op liquid diet bump right up against the days leading up to their menses? After losing all week, i seem to have gone up a pound and just by how my body feels, i can tell it’s that pre-start Water retention. My surgery isn’t until the 16th but I’m just trying not to freak out about stalling after losing eight pounds in 5 days.

I’m going to try upping my walking, diluting the broth with water to reduce sodium, and not have anxiety over all of this.

Don't worry about any of the process, It works. You will loose and its not a race. Have a weigh in every week then you wont have the anxiety of the ups and downs of a daily weigh in. You are doing so well. Give yourself a hug and a pat on the back from me

You’ll probably pee out your PMT Water retention in a couple of days so it won’t have any real impact on your weight when you have your surgery. Plus, your medical team understand how our bodies work.

All the best with your surgery.

The liver reducing diet is not really designed to make us lose weight anyways. Some people (especially those who were already on another diet) do not lose much at all and The doctors don’t seem concerned with that. The size of the liver is all that they care about in terms of a safe surgery which is the reason for that diet.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
