Constipated HELP!!

I’m 20days out and I’m suffering from constipation. I’m meeting my protein and water goals and I am active throughout the day. I tried milk and magnesium and it doesn’t help. Anyone go through this and have any suggestions?

Short term, Miralax. Careful with laxatives, some create dependency if used a long time.

Long term, double the water intake and add fiber supplements. As soon as you can eat solids, eat plenty of raw cabbage, snap peas, blackberries, raspberries, apples with peel, etc.

I had to up my water intake to a gallon a day to fix my issue. I take 5 of these gummies daily.

I hate to say it but, if nothing is working and you know you have a blockage, Fleet makes a suppositories that are little bottles. I just had this problem and it helped. I was taking Senna S every other day and Smooth Move tea at night but due to being a little dehydrated nothing was helping.

There is a laxative you can buy over the counter at your local pharmacy with the active ingredient called magnesium citrate - drink it and here comes the ?. I will tell you is not pleasant at all but I assure you it works. Just a disclaimer kindly ask your, surgeon, if it's ok for you to take before buying at your own.

Probiotics- I use Dr Ohiras- and magnesium—
Smooth move tea! You can find it in either tea section or health food section of some grocery stores. It has never failed me. Make cup of tea steep for 15 minutes covered squeeze tea bag n drink. By next morning or a few hours you are moving multiple times.

Totally common. What worked for me was Miralax to "get things going" then switching to sugar free fiber gummies. I can't remember who makes them, but for whatever reason, they seemed to do the trick. Good luck!

Ok I had this issue (I’m 2 weeks out today). How I solved it was Milk of Magnesia during the day and Miralax at night plus 2 stool softeners and you’ll start going. Plus all the water. It will start. Finally yesterday morning I went like pre-surgery and I think I turned the corner. I’m only doing 2 softeners now. Feel better it will work!

Short term: try different things from the pharmacy aisle and see what gets it moving.

Long term: prioritize fiber in your diet. Eat foods that promote fiber: salads, beans, some fruits (apples, raspberries, blueberries, bananas). For salads, I find that an oil-based dressing also helps grease the skids, so to speak.

Take a daily probiotic.

Drink plenty of water/liquid (low moisture creates hard stools).

If/when you are allowed to, drink some coffee in the morning. If you need to stay caffeine free, try some cold brew decaf.

All of those things will soften your stool and help move you along.
