I’m just not thirsty

Recommended Posts

I am five days post op and I have been having a difficult time getting my fluids in. I am just not thirsty so I forget to drink and then of course when I do remember it’s a slow and gradual process. I thought about setting alarms but it would be like all day. Does this get better?

I was the same, it got better! Someone on here gave me the suggestion of using an egg cup or shot glass for fluids, and setting a phone alarm to go off every ten minutes to remind me to drink. I am pleased to say I can now drink reasonably normally, it really does get better, but feels a bit grim at the time.

Get a water bottle and keep it around you all day, sip all day from it.

One common suggestion is to fill a 1 oz shot glass or medicine cup and sip one every five minutes; if you can do more than that, that's great. Yes, it does get better, quicker for some than for others. But you have to do it as dehydration will get you put back into the hospital quicker than just about anything else in this phase.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
