Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

  • Popular Post

Hi - I am new to the site. My sleeve surgery is scheduled for March 10th. Anyone else here set for March? I am super anxious but also looking forward to it. I had a lap band in 2009 and a slip in 2014 that required removal. Curious as to what your pre-op diet looks like. I am on partial liquids now and full liquids for two weeks before the surgery.

Nice to meet everyone!

Hi, I am new to this site as well. My surgery gastric bypass is scheduled for March 16th. I am worried about absorption of my antidepressants. Anyone else in the same boat?

I am not worried, but I did ask my surgeon about this since I take extended release capsules. He said the hospital pharmacist would switch me to a twice daily non-XR pill that I can crush up and take in the beginning and eventually go back to what I normally take. My surgery date is 3/29/21

I was sleeved yesterday evening. Overall, the pain from the incision sites is almost non-existant. I walk every hour and this is fine. However, every sip of liquid I drink causes irritating pain near where the esophogaus meets the stomach. This as well as gurgling noises and nausea.
Do you guys think this is normal based on your own experience? I still haven't seeny doctor after the operation. Thanks.

I have the same pain, right at the end of the esophagus. I also have an occasional hiccup and burping. I am trying to take small sips, exhale, and then swallow, it seems to help. Hard getting all the fluid down taking small sips.

I’m having the same - drs said sip slower and leave time in between but they were concerned. My pain is under my left breast when it happens. Glad you are feeling good overall!

I was sleeved yesterday morning! Everything went well except they did a liver biopsy on me which is making me nervous. Yesterday and last night was BAD leaving me to think WHAT HAVE I DONT TO MYSELF. This morning I am a bit better. Walking around and doing breathing exercises. Having trouble getting liquids down as I’m having intense pain when I swallow and the liquid meets the stomach. Just trying to power through and remind myself in the long run this will all have been worth it!! Thank god for pain medicine though. I wish it would help with the gas pains!

Did you get a chance to ask them why they did a biopsy on your liver? I hope nothing serious.

There was some small bumps on the surface they wanted to test! One doc seemed very nonchalant about it and one was very serious about it so I’m trying not to panic while healing! I should know next week what’s going on. I will say for several years prior to now I did drink pretty heavily while taking depression/anxiety medicine so I was already concerned about the state of my liver. Luckily though it can only go up from here and we will just treat it and continue to not drink and lose weight! Trying to stay positive!

I got weight yesterday at my follow up appointment. I've lost 16 pounds already!

Hi @Rhonda Andrews, that’s an awesome result!! We had our surgeries on the same day and my first follow up is on Monday.

Hi all!! Checking in! I had bypass on March 3rd and then a freak reaction to the Levonox shot had me back in surgery on the 4th. It was pretty scary there for a bit so I didn’t get to home until the 7th. I’m onto puréed foods now and everything seems to be back on track ! Glad to see my fellow Marchers doing well! For those coming up, good luck!

I am scheduled for March 31, just set the date last week. I have like 10 appts for different tests and meeting with surgeon, it's very overwhelming maybe because it's happening so fast. I've had a lot of "stuff" happening in my life recently and found myself trying to catch my breath last night. I finally realized that it was either stress of everything or the fear of the surgery. And the insurance denied me so I have to pay for it out of my own pocket. I'm a single mother so I guess I finally just started feeling overwhelmed. Has anyone faced major anxiety yet?

Glad to see you are doing well, was beginning to worry because you had not popped back up on here yet.

Hooray! Can you believe it’s almost time? Thinking of you my surgery twin @JustJazzy! What time are you scheduled for on the 17th? I’m at 5p- which is the latest surgery I’ve ever had. Seems weird. But I wasn’t about to question it once I finally got my date! Haha.

Heyyy! I still haven’t received my time yet surgeon said hospital will call me Monday with the time. 5pm? And you won’t be able to all day. Ugh! I’m hoping I get an AM surgery! You ready? My emotions are all over the place!

I am scheduled for 3/22 Gastric Sleeve. I have been on a high protein, low carb pre-op for one week, as prescribed by doctor,

I have Chronic Kidney Disease, Stage 3a, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and family history of cardiovascular disease. Currently, I am 22 pounds down from my absolute highest weight, and 15 pounds higher than my lowest weight. I reached my low right before COVID and regained those 15 pounds over the past year.

I also turned 70 during this past COVID year, however, I do not feel, act or look like an old person. I work full time and am active with my 5 grandchildren. I'm hoping that my comorbidities will disappear and that I can live as long as my role model: my 96 year old beautiful, smart, and graceful mother who is loved by her 7 great-grand-children.
