  1. If you just need a bit of weight to get over the hump, rolls of quarters weigh a lot. Just saying...

    No effect on me?

I haven't had any issues either. I asked my nutritionist if I'd really had surgery or was it all a dream. She laughed and said 90% of people don't have any issues. I do feel the restriction more depending on the texture of the food. I can have a lot of soup but not so much of chicken and steak. I was RNY on 3/3/21 and I've lost 45 since surgery. I think because I haven't had the negative consequences of throwing up or anything, it's really going to force to make better food choices. I'm hoping that if I can make that a habit now that it will serve me better when it comes to maintaining.

    Any March Surgeries?

SAME!! But as soon as I got to the bathroom, it goes away.

    Pre op testing

In my experience, you have to finish ALL of your pre-op stuff before they can submit it to insurance. It only took a week for mine to be approved after everything was completed.

    Long hospital stay after sleeve

Yes! The nurses were AMAZING! So glad I was there and not at home when it all started going crazy! Now trying to figure out if I'm allergic to Lovenox or if I have a problem with blood thinners in general. This might be info that saves my life in the future!

    Long hospital stay after sleeve

I had a 4 night stay after my RNY on 3/3. I had a freak reaction to the Lovenox shot the day after surgery and started bleeding heavily. My BP went down to 70/34 and my hemoglobin dropped 5 points. I ended up with 5 units of blood and they took me back into surgery. My doc said in 11 yrs, he's never seen that reaction. So....yep... went in on a Wednesday and didn't come out till Sunday.

    Green smoothies

I am blending, plus I'm adding flax seeds! I googled this after reading this post and I found a really good video series about green smoothies that made sense. It seems to be mainly apple in smoothies that causes a blood sugar spike. Berries and such actually seem to help it. He's got 5 videos going over different aspects of them. I learned a lot! This is the first video. Below the video, he's got the rest of the videos in order. https://nutritionfacts.org/video/are-green-smoothies-good-for-you/

    Cleaning up diet Pre Surgery

Oooo... I also specifically asked for a nutrition session about reading nutrition labels. That was really helpful too.

    Cleaning up diet Pre Surgery

I switched to using a smaller plate. Since my surgeon's office recommends a more plant based approach, I did 1/2 plate veggies, 1/4 protein, and 1/4 good carbs when I was preparing for surgery. I also worked on chewing slowly and taking small bites. Changing the plate really helped!

I've never heard of this before. Do you know why it changes?

    Dating post WLS and PS

They don't read it. On my profile, I was pretty honest about what I was looking for. Another guy messaged me and said he was looking for a bisexual who would wear black leather and participate in swinging. (Again...no shame to anyone but that was NOWHERE on my profile.) I told him that I didn't think I was what he was looking for. He told me that I'd never know unless I tried. Also, the number of guys who tried to get me to go away with them. One guy told me he'd take me to Jamaica - we had never met or anything. I have a better sense of self-preservation than that!

    Dating post WLS and PS

I met my husband online 18 years ago. It's is crazy. Had a guy with a picture of a couple in his profile. Me: - sorry I don't talk to married guys. Him - It's okay. My wife picks them out for me. Me - 😳 Now, I'm not shaming anyone if that's your lifestyle. I was just really naive 18 yrs ago and didn't think that that REALLY happened in real life!

    Spices and seasoning

I would think the only concern would be the small seeds. If they were to get into a healing surgical place, that would not be a good thing IMHO.

    Red meat consumption

I had red meat the first week I was on regular foods sooooo.... like week 6? I would suggest watching the texture. If you like it well done, but might be problematic. I had a medium-rare filet and it was AMAZING.

  18. I bought a size large bra! A size LARGE! And... I've never bought fun socks because I couldn't get them up my calf. They always slouched at my ankle! Check out my protest socks!

    TOM/TMI Question For The Ladies

Mine started the day of surgery. Joy. They just gave me a pad and pressed it to the area. They are so used to dealing with this kind of thing, they don't even care.

    What was your tipping point?

This was my tipping point. About a week after my 47th birthday, I skipped the pre-diabetic stage and went straight to a diabetic. Had my bypass on 3/3 and follow-up today with my endocrinologist. My A1C went from 6.8 to 4.6. I am now officially cured of diabetes. My cholesterol went from 218 to 104. I've lost 83lbs since my diagnosis in October. I've never really had high blood pressure, but this morning it was 105/65 which is lower than my normal. I feel the best I have felt in a few decades.

    March surgeries

10 weeks out from RNY on 3/3 and huge success to share!! Went to the endocrinologist today for the first time since surgery. A1C in October was 6.8 making me a diabetic. It's what really sparked my WLS. (6-6.4 is pre-diabetic and anything over 6.5 is diabetic) Today, I'm at 4.6!! I am officially cured of my diabetes!! WOOT!!! Also, in 2019, my cholesterol was 218 - today it's 104!! For the scale victory, I'm down 37.8lbs from surgery and 83.8lbs from October!! 10 weeks out from

  23. I'm 2.5 months post-RNY and so far I haven't found anything that I can't have. I might not be able to eat as much as before - that's the point after all - but I still enjoy going out to eat. There are a few moments here and there where I wish I could just gorge on everything, but that's what got me into this situation in the first place. I have discovered how much of how lives revolved around going out and what was next to eat so that's been a new thing.

    7 Layer Greek Dip

I needed a dish to take to a party and wanted something that I could have too. I found this recipe for a 7 layer Greek Dip... not really 7 layers but oh well... It was really yummy! I served it with cucumber slices for me and pita chips for whomever. https://www.thelazydish.com/easy-greek-hummus-dip/
