Losing Weight Too Fast?

Recommended Posts

So I got an ESG 8/19. My weight 30 minutes before the procedure was 315. Today, I clocked in at 289. For the first time in my life, I think I'm concerned with my weight LOSS haha. Is it supposed to be this rapid? I'm currently on stage like 2b (full liquid with some puree if I can handle it). I'm a little concerned I'm not eating enough during the day which is why I'm losing so fast but I don't want to push eating on the chance I either pop a suture or throw up - which I really hate. Any suggestions?

I reference this chart frequently! I think weight loss is always super fast in the beginning because you lose Water and inflammation. I lost 12 pounds my second week post sleeve and since then it’s slowed down to about 2 pounds a week with the occasional 3-4 pound week thrown in.

That weight chart may not be applicable to ESG as ESG is a non surgical loss procedure as well as the typical resulting sleeve being larger than a surgical sleeve.

You say you are worried that you are not eating enought but are you following the post procedure guidelines provided by the doctor who did the procedure or a dietician?

Your weight loss may be higher than is typical for ESG but if you are following your guidelines for meals (including timing) and volumes as well as eating sufficient Protein you are likely to be fine. If you are genuinely worried get in touch with your doctor or dietician to confirm everything is okay.

people lose at all different rates depending on a host of factors. Just follow your clinic's plan and you should be fine. And although I don't know about the ESG specifically, weight loss after surgeries tend to be fast the first month, then it slows down quite a bit.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
