June 2020 surgeries

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I'm new here and I'll be having VSG done on the 15th of June. I'm a little nervous but I'm ready!!! I think I'm just anticipating how I'll feel after surgery. Currently no one is allowed to come to the hospital with me, so I kind feel alone. How are you guys feeling about getting your surgery while Corona is still around?

I’m super nervous myself. I only have one person allowed with me before I go into surgery, but after I go in I’m on my own. I think it’s just the point where I need to focus on healing and getting healthy. I know you’ll do great! Don’t worry too much!

I’m having mine done on June 15 as well. My surgery is being done in Vegas. My daughter can’t be with me during the surgery, but they will pick her up from the hotel when I can leave the surgery center so we can go back to the hotel together. My surgery center wasn’t used for months until about two weeks ago. I have the confidence that everything will go well.

I am scheduled for a revision from sleeve to rny on 6/23. I had my sleeve 11 years ago, and have had severe reflux since then. Scared about having another surgery, but also afraid not to. My surgeon thinks he can get rid of 90% of my reflux or more. Been sleeping mostly in a recliner for the past 11 hrs due to the reflux (bile). Anyone else scheduled this month?

I could have had my husband at the hospital with me at various points (June 2) but chose to go alone. We have a special needs kiddo and it was just way less stressful for me to know that he was with my husband and not a family member who didn’t know his quirks as well.

The only time I had a glimmer of regret was right before they wheeled me back to surgery. The unknown was scary and I could’ve used a friendly face. But my whole team was so lovely and it was a great experience in spite of my complications.

I slept, I walked, I watched trashy tv on my iPad, and I was out of there before I knew it.

Good luck! You’ll do great.

I am currently in recovery. Everything went smoothly. I have some tummy pains but it's not unbearable. I wanted to get up and potty a half hour after surgery. It was tough then, especially trying to wipe myself, but it's getting easier. About to walk around in circles in my room to try and get more of this gas out (hoping that will help with the tummy pain)

Girl, YOU DID IT!!!!! I'm so HAPPY for you. And walking 30 minutes after getting to your room? ROCKSTAR. Keep us updated. I'd take a play by play if you're up to it and need the distraction. Otherwise know we're rooting for you. Sip walk and sleep!!! WELL DONE!!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
