I had a friend tell me her doctor told her she is too old to be banded at 60 and I thought I've seen postings of some on this website over 60 so I'm curious to see how old you were when you got your band or how old you are now if you're going through the approvals/insurance process to get banded in the upcoming year.

I'm 51 now and will 52 by the time I get banded.

Thanks.

:)

I was 52 and my wife was 56 and we both recieved our bands on 9/12/07

I just turned 44 last Sunday. Celebrated in Mexico the fact that tomorrow I have my consultation with Dr. Currie and maybe will have a surgery date in December if possible. Want to return to Mexico in 2008 and do all the things I couldn't do with my swollen feet this time around!!! LOL

I am 37 (soon to be 38) and I hope to be banded in the next 2-3 weeks. I have been toying with the idea for about a year. I only wish I done this 10 years ago. Better late than never.

Hey everyone! Well I've only been on these forums 2 days, yet I still have not seen anyone who has the band of has had the band put in at 18. I got it Nov 26 2007. It's been a few days and i am doing well. I sorta feel left out to be the only one at 18 years old who has the band and yet at the same time lucky. My starting weight is 340 lbs. I was on a 10 day slim fast diet before the surgery and it's now been 4 days since the surgery and im not entirely sure how much i've lost.Next Tuesday im going to my doctor to get the straples removed and will weigh myself also. I'll be setting up my ticker soon and everything else so bye for now!

I would have had lapband done at 23....but didn't know about it...course that was 14 years ago and it probably wasn't around then.

Wow So people really did research on it.. I heard my moms insurance covered it and thought to myself "Screw it, why not..cant be any worse than being fat!" I saw the comercials, and emailed her coworkers who had it done..thats it..Im kinda a jump into things head first person..especially if there is a chance it might make me skinny!!

I'm so thrilled for all the 20-somethings and younger on here who are banded! I wish I had back the last 20 years of my life that were consumed with being fat!

I agree with NanaRenan---if you are young and prepared for the bandster life, do it now, reclaim your life!

I had mine done at 45, went with my SIL who was 57--we both did fine. Now I look at the 2 of us, and am thrilled I have the next 12 years, thin! I mean, that is the age difference with us...so I will have spent those 12 years enjoying life, not dieting as she did. Hoping to have many more than 12 years ahead of me!!!

So you young girls, can have all those years ahead of you without the emotional or physical damage the obesity can cause! Go For It!!! I wish it had been an option to me 15 years before!

Kat

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
