Bone broth or regular, Pre-surgery diet help

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Any idea if I can have Bone Broth instead of regular broth for my diet? I'm in week 2 today, and just realized they may be different. Does anyone know if EITHER is okay r should I switch to regular broth?

Thanks,
Red

Either is fine.

I prefer Bone Broth -- specifically, chicken Bone broth by Kitchen Basics. I love the taste. It's like roasted chicken.

They have one with Tumeric, but I didn't care for it. The plain chicken is great. The beef is fine, but chicken is my favorite.

I find it more filling/satisfying than regular broth.

I’ve been drinking bone broth! It has great benefits. I made some from the Thanksgiving turkey and some from a chicken. I portioned them out and froze them- it’s good for up to 6 months in the freezer so that helps post op too!

Here is a good article explaining the difference between broth, stock and Bone Broth. It relates to cooking, pretty much says the are close to being the same with the difference being cooking time.

Bone Broth is an excellent choice after surgery as it will help regulate gut flora and heal everything :)

Swansons make sipping Bone Broth cups... they are pretty good

They aren't a good source of Protein, per the information on the packaging. I had one from a coworker, I guess unflavored Protein Powder can be added.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
