12/2/19 was my sleeve surgery date

Recommended Posts

Hello, I’m Jenny. I’m 38 years old, married to a wonderful and supportive guy, and a mother to two great kids. I had the sleeve done on Monday December 2nd with one overnight hospital stay. I went home on oxygen for when I’m at rest because of the elevation/altitude of where I live, which is near Denver. I’m 5’5” and was 295 pre-op. My goal is to lose 100 pounds and go from there. I have told very few people about my surgery because I don’t want to hear about how I took the easy way out. Nothing else I’ve tried has worked to lose weight and keep it off.

This is my second day post-op, and I am very sore. I’m trying to get my Fluid intake up and in a good spot, but it’s been hard. My stomach feels like I’ve been kicked a few times and it looks that way in spots where I’ve bruised. I don’t want to discourage anyone from getting their surgery done... I just wanted to write out how I’m doing so far. I hear it gets easier on the 3rd day.

Congratulations for making the decision to change your life! It does get easier every day. What you are feeling now is normal for any surgery. I remember waking up in the recovery room and thinking "holy ****, this really happened!" My abd felt like I'd been hit by a truck. After that, I never had any more pain. Follow your teams instructions and this next year will be transformative! It has certainly been one of the best things I've done for myself!

I posted my pic in the December sleeves, but I thought I’d follow up with my own post. Here’s a pic showing 6 days out and 16 days out. I’m happy I can start seeing a difference. I’m still struggling with things, mostly my Fluid intake, but I’m trying. I’m hovering around a 22 pound loss.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
