I just had surgery yesterday and I was released today. Every time that I take a sip of Water I feel a sharp pain in my chest and then air bubbles but I can get the air to come out by burping or passing gas. Any suggestions? I know walking is good for it, but any OTHER Suggestions?

Everyone told me to walk and I didn’t burp or pass gas once.... I was so frustrated. I actually found taking deep breaths (in through your nose out through your mouth) to help me. It calmed me down and soothed my belly a little. Also, warm tea helped. The nurse told me it helps to open things up on the inside or something along those lines. I loved the ice chips but the cool Water bothered my stomach.

Call your doctor’s office to see if you can take Gas-X. It really helped me!

You have to figure out what pops the gas - For me it was walking and Bending over and just moving around - Also be careful you may be drinking and eating at the same pace as before surgery - SIP Water really slowly small amounts. I also do agree on Breathing Techniques. Sounds silly but if you can get your hands on a sleep Ap machine really helps with Breathing and Air.

To this day I still get flare ups of the Air - Not as painful but you learn what works - I lay accross my counter in L position and that seems to help also - The pool and Hot tubs also free it up - You will find your niche

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
