Gas Pains

I just had surgery yesterday and I was released today. Every time that I take a sip of water I feel a sharp pain in my chest and then air bubbles but I can get the air to come out by burping or passing gas. Any suggestions? I know walking is good for it, but any OTHER Suggestions?

Everyone told me to walk and I didn’t burp or pass gas once.... I was so frustrated. I actually found taking deep breaths (in through your nose out through your mouth) to help me. It calmed me down and soothed my belly a little. Also, warm tea helped. The nurse told me it helps to open things up on the inside or something along those lines. I loved the ice chips but the cool water bothered my stomach.

Call your doctor’s office to see if you can take Gas-X. It really helped me!

You have to figure out what pops the gas - For me it was walking and Bending over and just moving around - Also be careful you may be drinking and eating at the same pace as before surgery - SIP water really slowly small amounts. I also do agree on Breathing Techniques. Sounds silly but if you can get your hands on a Sleep Ap machine really helps with Breathing and Air.

To this day I still get flare ups of the Air - Not as painful but you learn what works - I lay accross my counter in L position and that seems to help also - The pool and Hot tubs also free it up - You will find your niche
