Unjury ready made hands down. I had massive anxiety trying to find a Protein Shake I could tolerate.

My favorite is Syntrax powder. I mix the orange cream and mint chip with unsweetened almond milk. Try buying some sample sizes, lots of companies have them. That way you can find the ones you like without wasting money on ones you don’t like.

have you tried Isopure they have many choices in flavors andn a unflavor and luckily doesn't leave an after tastes like all the ones I have tried the tastes is good but I have only use the dutch choclate and add the unflavor to Soups and other drinks

I was throwing up or getting very nauseous with almost every shake and powder I tried -- Premier, etc.

Then for two months, I drank Isopure Apple Melon Protein Drink (40 g. of protein) and loved it. But it was too expensive to maintain -- $43 for 12 drinks. I've now switched to unflavored GENEPRO, at the recommendation of my nutritionist. I will be adding it to flavored water.

I add a few drop if extracts to the really nasty ones to get them down. Somehow the Muscle milk choc that I can't get down becomes more tolerable when I added a few drops of coffee extract. Still not awesome but I got it down. Unfortunately I am struggling with lactose issues and am allergic to Stevia so my choices for shakes available locally is a bit limited

Have you been able to find a Protein you can handle?

I had a hard time finding Protein I could tolerate, texture, flavor, and that didn’t have added iodine. I couldn’t tolerate Isopure zero or Premier Protein clear they felt like they coated my throat in hair. I didn’t care for Syntrax, I was hoping I would. The smell of isopure plain was nauseating alone. 100% whey protein isolate didn’t agree with me.

Ones I found worked for me are for powder mix I used PEScience Select. So far I liked Cookies and cream, Peanut Butter cookie but they have other flavors that look good.

For RTD labrada lean body is good I especially like salted caramel, banana is good too

if I need quick protein from the grocery I get Boost Max

if I want a non dairy protein in RTD I get Koia. The cinnamon horchata is the best.

I like to mix my protein powders in either unsweetened Ripple milk, unsweetened Edensoy, or TwoGood yogurt since they add more protein. (For breakfast)

My mom bought me performix io whey Protein Powder in banana nutello flavor to try.

Everyones taste is different. Also BariatricPal has quite a selection of juice flavor protein mixes, hot cocoa and cappuccinos with protein, protein bullion’s and Soups. The Protein Shots also come in handy for post op when you can’t drink a lot. I wish I had them then.

Golden Standard whey isolate is pretty good.I hated Protein Shakes after surgery.2 weeks of liquid diet was nightmare.I actually stopped drinking them after this 2 weeks.I do not recommend to do that.I think you should listen other people and find something that you can drink on regular basis.I lost so much hair due to lack of Protein in my diet.I actually started to drink them again after a year of surgery, and I find Golden Standard pretty tasty.

I was the same way and found herbal life to be the best for me! It's kind of pricey but soo worth it and you can make all kinds of shakes with them!

Tastes will change.
At first I couldn’t stomach any Protein Shakes bc they were so over-the-top sweet.
So I drank nothing but fairlife milk bc it has so much Protein in it.
I also use a lot of savory products.
Love the bariatric cream of chicken and Tomato.
Lots of times I’ll add a scoop of beef Bone Broth powder to miso Soup. It’s pretty decent.
I’ve also done the bariatric hot chocolate and the oatmeal.

Lately though, I tried the Premier Protein again and I get the caramel and bananas and cream and add to iced coffee over a lot of crushed ice (1:1 ratio) and it’s pretty delicious.
In fact, I just ordered their pumpkin spice and I can’t wait to try it out.

Don’t be afraid to try new things and even periodically go back to previously tried things.
Your tastes will change over time

There was no right shake for me. They all taste bad but the premixed Premier were least offensive. I froze a few to eat like ice cream. I preferred the fruity clear drinks bc they weren’t so thick and heavy.

I don’t drink any of them now. In fact I was off of them as soon as I went on solid food. My docs prefer if you can get your Protein without the drinks and avoid drinking extra calories, and I was totally ok with that. I usually am able to get 60-80g of protein daily so I don’t use them at all but I was also lucky enough to heal rapidly.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
