One of the things I’m looking forward to during my weight loss journey is saying good bye to my skin folds/creases.I have skin folds on my arms and thighs. I’ve already lost over 50 pounds since my VGS in May but the skin folds are still there! For my BariPals who have already accomplished your weight loss goals when did your skin folds (if you had some) go away? I’m just praying that they will naturally go away, even if with exercise, because I really don’t want plastic surgery.

Some people have great luck/success with skin after WLS, some don't😳😭

Skin folds? Do you mean excess/loose skin?

Unfortunately not everyone's skin snaps back. There's not much you can do about it once skin has lost elasticity. As you lose more the skin wont have fat sitting underneath so when the volume is lost the more stretched it may seem.

I hope you have success! 💜

The only way to fix loose skin is plastics. Weightlifting will fill in some of it with muscle.

I think it depends on your age and how long you have been obese. I am 60 and have been obese for over 30 years, and I have loose skin everywhere--neck, upper arms, stomach (the worst area), butt and thighs. I'm going to start weight training in the near future, as I've been told that can help. If not, I'd much prefer sagging skin than go back to my old body!

I had a lot of loose skin after my weight loss using the Lap-Band so I had surgery. Well the surgery almost killed me, I threw 3 blood clots and they ended up in my lungs. I have permanent sensation loss. Would I do it again...Never. But everyone has to make their own decisions.

I agree, I don't like the excess skin and have it everywhere but I would rather have it then be 300+ lbs again any day of the week.

I think men have easier chance of skin bouncing back due to our muscle mass.

I remember 2012 I lost like 90lbs and had minimal loose skin.

Of course I'm older this time but I'll be looking into exercises soon enough to help.

Once I was very heavy (260). My skin looked young and firm stretched around my fat.

Now I am very thin. My skin flows down my body like heavy drapes.

I am healthy. I am happy. I am loved. I look fantastic in clothes! I’m not willing to undergo all of the procedures it would take to correct all of the areas that could use intervention.

Life is a series of compromises.🤷🏼‍♀️🙂

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
