DON'T BE DOWN! Even when you don't rapidly drop pounds you will drop inches. And it's All Good! Remember sometimes you are not a Race [emoji594] Car but a Jalopy [emoji593] chug-a-chugging along. We still get to our goals, it is an eventual process but it does happen. And sometimes slow and easy is,better for,YOY in the long run!

Thank you for this...im 4 weeeks out and was losing a poubd a day then when i started back hiking and Water aerobics and walking I stopped losing weight. I haven't really paid attention to inches cuz everything is so baggy on me...time to get the tape measure out. [emoji1]

Thank you all for your words of wisdom. The nutritionist took my measurements before surgery. I will have to get those from her. And 104 lbs in a year? Didn’t think about it like that. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Anyone else having surgery in April? Maybe we can find surgery twins here. I thought I could start it off by asking a few questions.

When is your surgery? April 4th
What kind of surgery? Revision from sleeve to Mini Gastric Bypass
Height? 5’8”
Starting weight? 285
Goal weight? 175

Hi CajunSam, Just had Gastric Sleeve Surgery on 4/18/19. Seem to be doing well, down 33 pounds from starting pre-surgery weight.

Height - 5'4"
Starting weight - 238 lbs
Goal weight - 138 lbs

Hope your surgery went well

I had RNY on Monday, 4/29/19. I gained 14 lbs in the first 3 days after surgery. The nurses were always hanging new bags of liquids. The Dr said I must have been very dehydrated upon admittance.
No one told me that I could GAIN weight after surgery. I was shocked and disappointed when I got on the scale for the first post-surgery weigh-in!!! I’ve lost all 14 lbs in the first 12 days but I still feel as though I’m on an up-hill battle. My mind can’t wrap around the idea that I WILL lose weight because I’ve not been able to lose weight on my own. I’m past ready to continue this journey!

Been a while since I posted, nice to read all the updates. I had my sleeve done on 4/9 and so far weight loss is 26 pounds from that morning:) I am still on mushy food until June 12 not that I am watching the calendar very closely lol.. But I have noticed that I can not eat a full 2oz like they say.. Does anyone else have this issue? I can get 1/2oz - maybe a little over an ounce but by then my stomach is so uncomfortable I know it is time to stop. I am having a hard time with the Protein I am now at the point every time I start to drink one I want to puke.

I cant drink the protein either...it tastes so sweet. One of my friends said to freeze it and eat it like ice cream....I'm gonna try that. I am also having a hard time going #2...its awful. I feel if I eat liquids or purees all day that I never feel full. It's weird. I bought chicken meatballs and started to mush them up and put it with some mashed potatoes or I make some Soup with it

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
