I am curious, did anyone’s doctor warn you about gas? I have only found out about this because of research and forums. It seems odd to me since this is a part of the surgery.

I was given a lot of information in advance but I don’t remember has as being specifically called out or made a point if interest. It’s definitely a major issue for almost all of us.

My surgery is March 11 and I am very nervous about the gas pain. Like you, I've read tons about it here in the forums. I mean my 2nd baby was an emergency c section and I survived that. How hard could this be? Lol.

i was told just walk it out and it will help move it. it was the hardest part about the surgery. i think it gave more pain then the actual surgery.

Oh the gas pain, the joyous gas pain. Had it not been for that I’m sure I’d have been completely pain free!

Walk, walk, walk,

Peppermint tea

sleep slightly propped on pillows

GA slows gastric motility & bowel movements. I didn’t pass gas for three days...I was worried at first but it DOES return to normal.

I’m 11 days post op & could quite happily return to work tomorrow...but I’m not. Another seven days booked off so I’m going to start a steady bit of life laundry & clear out my house...

Good luck with it all. Soon it will be you giving advice to others. Xxx

My surgeon has said nothing about gas so far. I'm still pre-op (bypass on March 4), and I'm really glad I've learned about gas pain from this forum.

I never heard in any of the meetings or appointments leading up to the surgery about gas pain. As soon I was in my room my nurse talked about it and how I needed to get up and walk. Then of course it was a multiple daily question... did you pass gas from below? Then it's a really big deal when you finally say yes and they woohoo! :p

I read about it though on here so I was prepared for it.

I learned about gas pains when I had my gallbladder removed. I had this horrible pain in my right shoulder - turns out it was from gas. It hurt several days, but I also wasn't really able to walk due to complications. I'm hoping that walking soon after my sleeve will help this time around!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
