Websites: I love Skinnytaste.com. It has great recipes with all the nutritional info. I'm going to try this recipe for jalapeno popper "nachos" https://www.skinnytaste.com/jalapeno-popper-nachos/

Also, Sparkpeople.com. Just found this recipe for low-carb tortillas that I've got to try: https://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=3452540

Day 29- website/apps

I am an addict of pinterest y'all! I think all my recipes I've used these last few months have come from there. They have tons of "keto" recipes, which I use because of CD. But I also make tons of other options that I can substitute for GF products. Best part is I can build the recipe in Myfitnesspal! So I input the ingredients and servings, and it calculates everything for me. I always get nervous when a serving is close to 400 calories... but then I remember that's for 1 cup of food. I'm lucky if I can ever eat more than 1/4 a cup! And yes... I will serve everyone so I can know the exact portion configuration. Then weigh my food so I know I don't get more than 3 oz on my plate. Then of course fitbit, as I have an ionic and it's amazing. Plus it syncs with myfitnesspal! Those are my 3 recommendations lol

Honestly the only app I frequent is Baritastic. I love that app. My only frustration is that when I scan a food, chances are at least one of the macros are wrong, and they are still missing a lot of items. I am constantly sending in pics of nutrition labels for them to update their database. They should pay me.

OK, overcoming obstacles. You saw the bad section of my pantry and I need to stay out of it. If I could get rid of every item of junk food in this house, I would. But, it's just part of my journey that I will have to rely on willpower instead. Don't really discuss it much here but my kids have severe food insecurity from early on in their lives before they came to us. It's important to keep comforting Snacks available where they can see them and access them. They rarely rely on them anymore but trashing them isn't an option unfortunately. But, I can still do this!
So, the hard time for me is evening, after dinner, after the kids are in bed. I usually watch TV or get on my computer to relax and for some reason it just triggers my snacking monster. SOOoo, I'm switching up my routine. I've decided to make the time after the kids go to bed my self-care time. If I want to watch TV, I need to do it earlier in the day. I think it will give me a little mental boost and help me sleep better too. Shower, exfoliation, moisturizing, facial mask, relaxing music, herbal tea. I'm starting right now!

Brilliant idea. Evening is my danger time too. After being busy all day, sitting in front of telly is a trap for me.

#29 - Website/Apps

I really only use My Fitness Pal. It's great for letting me know how little Protein I get if I don't push myself. It also keeps me honest about days I eat too much and days I eat too little.

#29. I use my fitnesspal (i like that you can adjust the macros and scan the barcodes on food) and the fitbit app. I recently downloaded Diet bet and joined a game. Hopefully it will give me the kick in the pants I need to stay motivated and get as close to goal as possible before my plastics in early spring.

Not really into weight loss websites---unless you count these forums!

DIET: My Fitness Pal

EXERCISE: Muscleandstrength.com

SCALE: Renpho app

Muscle and strength is a little over the top with the meathead content but it has great beginner routines and you can look up different exercises and watch a video on how to do it properly. It enables me to feel confident when I'm trying to switch up my routine.

My goal was to quit grazing all day. Haven't been too successful. However, I am better about writing it all down!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
