Plateau of week one

Recommended Posts

So I lost 11 lbs week one and 19 altogether with the pre op diet. But every time I step on the scale at my house it’s the same number. Has anyone experienced that? I go to the doctor tmrw and I’ll get a better weigh in but just worries me. I don’t want to start stalling early.

This will happen. Keep drinking your Water and pay attention to your bowel habits. Also if you just had surgery, you will be swollen. I tend to stall and then lose weight and stall again and lose weight. I've noticed that I lose inches, but my weight doesn't always go down. Another member also mentioned to get a scale that measures your body fat too.

I am also post op 1 week and I experience the same thing. I think it is normal for us. I wouldn't get to worried and give it some time the body is still healing.

What do you mean by pay attention to bowels ? Mines are lose always and several times a day. I’m going to purée come Thursday. I’m worried I won’t lose once I transition

Stop worrying about the scale right now. Let your body heal from the surgery. Follow the program. The weight loss will come.

If the scale upsets you, put it away for a few weeks.

Some people get backed up so they think they are not losing.

It sounds like you're focusing on the scale way too much. You just had surgery. How often are you weighing? You may need to go down to just weighing once a week so that you're not so focused on the number on the scale.

Did anyone else gain weight in the hospital? I had sleeve surgery one week ago and I’m just now down to my pre-surgery weight. Trying not to focus on it but it’s frustrating. My abdomen is still visibly swollen so I’m guessing the fluids are the reason.

Yes, it's from all the fluids and CO2 they give you. Once you pass your surgery gas and have your first BM you'll start noticing the change. Do not get discouraged, and remember the weight did not appear in one day, it won't be gone in one either.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
