Anyone else eat and drink at the same time?

Recommended Posts

After a couple of months with my new stomach I tried eating and drinking at the same time- nothing bad happened. Keep in mind I only eat 3-5 bites of anything to make sure I save room for water/beer/ wine during my meal. Does anyone else do this? I am currently 11 months out of surgery and end up with a total of 1,200-1,500 calories a day including 2 beers or a glass of chardonnay. I have surpassed my goal weight of 135- now I'm 130.02 and continue to lose a pound a week. I eat 5-6 times a day, stick to healthy options and exercise / play sports multiple times a week. Curious to know if anyone else eats and drinks at the same time?

I do not but I am only 8.5 months post op. I do not drink alcohol and have not for years so that’s not an issue for me.

If I eat out I order an ice Water, sip it a bit before my meal comes, then I leave it there when my meal arrives. If anyone has noticed they haven’t said anything.

I am sure plenty of people enjoy a glass of wine with their meal now and again.

I have done it in social situations, such as sipping a glass of wine before or during dinner, but it makes me uncomfortably full so I try to avoid it. I can't do anything carbonated, so while I would love to sip a beer, I'm afraid of the consequences while being out in public, lol.

Not trying to tell you what to do, but just keep in mind that your surgery is still very new, so while you may be able to get away with these habits and still lose now, that could change as your body adjusts and in time you could see re-gain. At least this is what my nutritionist tells me when I confess my sins to her during our visits.

I can comfortably drink before a meal but am conscious of filling up so I only have a little bit as I want to be able to enjoy the dinner etc.

However, I cannot drink with the meal or until at least 30 minutes after. I get a strange and very unpleasant feeling if I try to do so, its totally not worth it for me and it has put me off drinking with meals full stop.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
