Just got approval!! Any October sleevers out there?

  • Popular Post

I just found out that my insurance approved surgery!! I won't be able to have surgery until October because of my work schedule. Anyway, I really wasn't getting my hopes up in case insurance didn't approve it, but now it's real omg. I'm nervous and excited and would love someone to be buddies with through this. Any takers?

I'm 37. I have 4 kids (14, 11, 4 and 2) and I'm a teacher. I am starting with a BMI of 40 exactly with no comorbidities. Anyone out there with similar stats? Even different stats but you are having surgery in October? My date is 10/4.

Congrats! I can't believe you had to do an 18 month medically supervised diet!! And an appeal to get it.
It's almost like they might have been hoping you'll drop out and they wouldn't have had to pay. Well done you for sticking it out.

October is around the corner everyone!

Just got off the phone with the coordinator! October 17 at 1 pm! I feel like I won the lottery, I am so excited. My pre-op nutrition visit is this coming Monday, and then my pre-op tests and pre-op visit are Tuesday. 2 week liquid diet starts Wednesday. I’m honestly more stressed about the pre-op diet than the actual surgery.

I am too! Two weeks just liquid, then do t again after the surgery...

I'm on day five and it's getting easier. There is research that found those who lose I think it was 8% of their excess weight pre-op have much better long term results, if that's motivation. That and find shakes that taste ok

Im on day 4 of 10 and finding it ok, I am noticing when I do get hungry more and Im also noticing that I speed eat =( So trying to slow it down, I think that is my only problem (for now lol) I hate protein shakes and feel sick after them, so Ive gone over to yoghurt smoothies and juice drinks with added Genpro. Roll on next week!

I'm scheduled for October 15th. My BMI is 34 but I have pre-diabetes so my insurance is covering it. I'm starting my pre-op diet in a few days. What I'm going to miss most is Diet Coke and La Croix.

My surgery is scheduled for October 9th. I've been warning myself off of the diet coke. Oh, the headaches!

Hi Suesloosinit,
I'd just be a bit careful with the juice drinks. The point of the protein liquid diet is to cut out sugary carbs so you can deplete the glycogen stores in your liver, and unfortunately juice is essentially liquid sugar.
I just got my approval yesterday myself! So excited for this new journey! Congrats
