I just found out that my insurance approved surgery!! I won't be able to have surgery until October because of my work schedule. Anyway, I really wasn't getting my hopes up in case insurance didn't approve it, but now it's real omg. I'm nervous and excited and would love someone to be buddies with through this. Any takers?

I'm 37. I have 4 kids (14, 11, 4 and 2) and I'm a teacher. I am starting with a BMI of 40 exactly with no comorbidities. Anyone out there with similar stats? Even different stats but you are having surgery in October? My date is 10/4.

I am scheduled for October 4th!!!! So that’s pretty cool, Oct 3rd go in for pre-opt testing. And start my 10 liver shrinking diet on Sept 23. Let’s be buddies October friends!!!

Just over five weeks now (16/10/2018), I have started to buy sample sizes of different protein products to see what may help get me through the first couple of weeks. I will be away from home up to 7 to 10 days after my procedure, as I am travelling out of state.

Thats great. I am still waiting on the official paper, however , office has me on that date for surgery. But- i won't be worry-free until its on paper, i think end of this month.

But i m going to be positive n say yes, for oct 24th!!!

Usually they book you because they kinda know you’ll get approved.. I used to work at a drs office :)

Hi there! I have very similar stats and just got scheduled for October 16 (as long as everything goes as planned!)

I am 35, have a 6 year old son, BMI of 42, scheduled for Oct 16th.

So excited, but a tad bit nervous...

Thats what i thought. I have done all my bloodwork, chest xray, sleep study, nutrition counseling, ekg,,,,the only things left are the drs clearance from primary 30 days or less b4 n the bloodwork for surg. 3 days before. They told me not to lose weight since i am 36bmi.

I'm still waiting for word from my insurance company. It's been 12 days since paperwork was submitted. Waiting and worrying is the hardest thing for me....

Don't stress. I know easier said than done. Just try to keep busy and make sure you are caught up on laundry, baseboards clean (hahaha, interesting person I am, I know!!!), anything that provides busy work for you to keep your mind occupied. Give them a few more days, most of us jump through a lot of hoops to have the surgery, clearance after clearance after clearance, over the course of a couple of months. They are probably just trying to be thorough sifting through it. If they haven't reached out with something in a few more days then, I'd probably reach out to them. I think everything will be fine, some just take a little longer than others. Best wishes and best of luck to you! Keep us updated.

Cindy t.. you can also call the insurance and ask if they’ve gotten the prior authorization paperwork for your surgery and if ‘yes’ ask them if they’ve sent it back to your dr’s office. Unfortunately the dr’s office can’t speed up the process but sometimes it helps if the patient themselves call and inquire about the status on the submission for prior authorization :)

My insurance states that you have to wait 14 business days but I called after 5 days and got my letter the next two business days with the approval (hope that helps)

I can't wait! I'm slowly buying all the stuff I need - I even bought a Squatty Potty after reading on this forum about constipation and how much the SP helped. Trying to make sure I have enough Protein Shakes, stocking up on interesting spices to punch up bland food. I've got a food scale as well as a fancy new body scale that measures all sorts of things. I meet my surgeon again on September 11 and will find out if I go on a liver shrink diet or not and get all the last-minute instructions!

I'm a little sad about the surgery because I love to bake, and I will probably have to give that up for a while (which I know will be worth it, I won't regret it), so for my birthday in a few days my mom and I are going to bake a bunch of things we've always wanted to try to make... one last fun experiment since I've been very good with my pre-op diet.

Well, i called this morning and prayed while i was on hold. She came back on and read me the letter stating approval. I asked her to email it to me please and then i forwarded it to the surgeon. I'm waiting now to see what happens next. This was the "pre-certification" packet that was approved. I remember them telling me after that approval, they'd have to send in the pre-authorization for surgery with a surgery date. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
