Wow, congrats! Thats amazing. I was sleeved 10/16, cash patient as well. I have lost 37 lbs since Oct 1, including preop, which I am pleased with....especially considering the 3 week stall in between. I am so thankful for my tool and cant wait to see how the next several months progress. Keep up the great work!

How funny! You really are my twin. I hope these stalls aren't going to be frequent--so frustrating!

I was sleeved on 10/16 and stalled for 3.5 weeks at 2.5 weeks out. I am now 6 weeks and just dropped 4 lbs...whew.. I will say I see a major difference in clothes fitting despite the stall. Almost none of my old clothes fit anymore. Take lots of photos and measurements to use because the scale does not always tell the truth. [emoji12]

@kdiddle31 Sorry to hear about the negative reaction. My friends and family have been very supportive, though I have only told those closest to me so far. I'm not too worried about negativity, I'm doing this for me, no one else, and I am confident in my decision...so, I would just smile and carry on!

I wish I could take 4 weeks off, but with this being an elective surgery I am having to use my personal time off and have no medical leave. My plan is to take 1 week off, then work from home the 2nd week if I am able. @shazz73 I am sad about losing coffee also. I usually only have 1-2 cups a day, but I am going to miss them. I have never been a soda drinker, so that part doesnt bother me as much.

I am sooo ready for surgery day! I have my scope next week, then my preop appt the week after, then it's time for the 2 week liquid diet... so hopefully time will move quickly.

    Yep, a week tomorrow!
I'm good, mostly! Better than I had expected to be, honestly.
My arthritis has retreated. I think my immune system is just busy healing up the surgery damage for now, but it would be pretty amazing if it just stayed away.
The biggest incision hurts some, but it's manageable enough that I haven't had even the Tylenol in days, let alone the harder stuff. There's a lot of gurgling in there, just like a pre-op empty stomach, which leaves me feeling like I'm hungry, even though I know I can't force liquids in much faster. I know it'll eventually go away. My sternum hurts with some things I try to drink and, very rarely, when I haven't had anything. I'm on Prilosec, so I am assuming the random times are because I've been doing my breathing exercises wrong or something. I dunno.
I'm over 64 ounces of liquid per day without having to work super hard anymore, which is nice: I can take big enough sips now that I felt safe pulling out my favorite coffee mug (which is pretty big), if not the coffee itself yet. Decaf black tea has been the main source of hydration for me, outside of protein shakes, jello, and popsicles. I am, mentally, enough of a small child that the chicken noodle soup broth makes me feel better, when I have it, too.
I'm in the high 50s on grams of protein every day (plus whatever's in the broth, who knows?), and I've broken 60 once.
I've been doing short walks every day, in addition to the standard hourly pacing around the house; tonight's walk was over half a mile, and I feel good. (I don't want to push too far, too fast.)
And it looks like you're about a week from your surgery! How are you holding up?

Hi All! Newbie here with a surgery date of Oct 16th. I'm so excited, but also nervous...and anxious. I am also starting a little early with eliminating carbonation, caffeine, taking lots of vitamins, etc. Hopefully being prepared will make the transition a little easier. On one hand, I feel like I should enjoy the next few weeks of "freedom" while I'm still able to, but on the other hand, I'm just ready to get it done and over with!
kdiddle, what type of work do you do? Just curious, because I told my surgeon I'm in accounting and he said I would likely only need a week off.

I worry about that also, I always drink a lot during and after meals. That will definitely take some getting used to.

I wouldn't say I'm second guessing my decision, but I understand that feeling. I went from being 110% ready, zero hesitation, to... WOW, is this really happening? Am I sure about this? It's extreme. It's permanent. It has risks. Several friends and family members have said I'm "fine the way I am" and not to do it. But....
I'm staying positive and focusing on the good that will come from this experience, rather than the tough parts and potential complications.
Just try to think about where you will be a year from now and hold on to that thought! =) An overwhelming majority of WLS patients say it's the best decision they have ever made, not necessarily the easiest though.
    Best of luck!

Hi All! Just checking in, as I start my 2 week pre-op liquid diet on Monday. I'm well stocked on protein drinks, powder, broths and teas and ready to get this over with!!! The countdown is on! One more day 'til October -- this is our month!!!

Pre-Op testing tomorrow morning. Not worried about the tests, but it’s sobering knowing this is actually happening in 10 more days. Anyone else second guessing their decision? I’m ready, but can’t help doubting at this point. Hope that feeling goes away soon.
