Two week pre op liquid diet?

Recommended Posts

Hello- I am new so forgive me for any dumb questions. I read that some people had to go on liquid diet for two weeks prior to surgery. That wasn't mentioned to me... yet. Will I more than likely have to do that? That sounds really difficult.

It depends on the surgeon. Mine required a 2 week diet and I seen some only do a 3 day. I would speak with your surgeon about it.

Mine was 2 weeks. It's hard the first few days, but then it gets WAY easier, I promise! I thought it as "Bariatric Boot Camp" . Some surgeons (nutritionist, really) can give you super specific instructions, some basically a list and how many calories, Protein, carbs, etc (that was mine). It's super important to shrink your liver and also you'll get used to post op "eating". But everyone is completely different but I've seen 2 weeks kind of as the average.

Mine required a 4 week pre op diet but it includes one meal a day. im in the middle of it now and have two more weeks to go before surgery. I really struggled in the beginning and cheated twice. But once i stopped seeing things from a lack perspective and thought about the amazing opportunity I have ahead of me (plus did some venting on this site) I was able to get back on track and now I'm at the point where I am forgetting to have my shake lol. Also losing on average a pound a day which is great!!

Its a small price to pay and entirely doable.

good luck

2-day liquids only pre-op diet. It was pretty easy.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
