Two week pre op liquid diet?

Hello- I am new so forgive me for any dumb questions. I read that some people had to go on liquid diet for two weeks prior to surgery. That wasn't mentioned to me... yet. Will I more than likely have to do that? That sounds really difficult.

It depends on the surgeon. Mine required a 2 week diet and I seen some only do a 3 day. I would speak with your surgeon about it.

Thank you, my next appointment isn't for 3 weeks so I was curious to know.

Mine was 2 weeks. It's hard the first few days, but then it gets WAY easier, I promise! I thought it as "Bariatric Boot Camp" . Some surgeons (nutritionist, really) can give you super specific instructions, some basically a list and how many calories, protein, carbs, etc (that was mine). It's super important to shrink your liver and also you'll get used to post op "eating". But everyone is completely different but I've seen 2 weeks kind of as the average.

Mine required a 4 week pre op diet but it includes one meal a day. im in the middle of it now and have two more weeks to go before surgery. I really struggled in the beginning and cheated twice. But once i stopped seeing things from a lack perspective and thought about the amazing opportunity I have ahead of me (plus did some venting on this site) I was able to get back on track and now I'm at the point where I am forgetting to have my shake lol. Also losing on average a pound a day which is great!!

Its a small price to pay and entirely doable.

good luck

Totally depends on your surgeon .... no preop diet here

2-day liquids only pre-op diet. It was pretty easy.
