All worked up, did my 6 months of pcp appointments, egd, ultrasound, sleep study, labs, etc. Got approved though my insurance and my date has been scheduled for June 8th!!! So very excited/nervous at the same time.
Do you think there could be anything, once approved by insurance and scheduled, that they would change their minds and not give me the surgery???
It’s just such a blessing and a wonderful tool and I’m so close after waiting so long that I’m afraid any little thing could go wrong.
Any last little bit of advice/encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I cant imagine why anything would change your surgery! It is definitely exciting, and an amazing journey! Just dont lose too much weight before your final weigh in --- cant go below 35 BMI so try to stay where you are. Although youve likely already had your final Dr appointment?

My BMI was 39 and they didnt have me do a pre-op diet --- just liquid for 2 days to clear your stomach and bowels for surgery.

Youll be nervous and excited..... but it truly is awesome. The gas is the worst part-- so just keep walking - its really the only thing that works. Get out of bed asap and literally walk every hour for the 2 days your in the hospital. The post op diet kinda stinks for a bit but once on soft foods and then solids its fine.

Feel free to ask any questions.... youll do amazing!

After everything is turned and approved I can’t see anything stopping your surgery unless you are running a fever or have been sick. At this point you have probably had your pre-op appointment and should just follow your NUTs instructions for your 2 week pre-op.

You have this no problem.

from what I have heard, if you have nicotine, alcohol, or recreational drugs in your system the day of your surgery the doctor will cancel your procedure.

There are a few reasons they will call the surgery off, your best bet is to ask your surgeon what those factors are. Some are hard up about nicotine, drugs, aspirin, certain Vitamins, etc. Some won't do surgery if your weight hasn't dropped or if you've gained. If you have a CPAP or APAP and you don't bring it, most surgeons will cancel the surgery. Just reach out to your surgical team and ask them the question, you wouldn't be the first and they do appreciate that you are working with them to ensure that they don't have to cancel!

Congrats and good luck!
Dry mouth spray and lip balm are life savers for right after surgery!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
