Overnight Bag Worries

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow is the day  I am worried about this and I don't know why? My husband has to work tomorrow (he just started a new job and could not get off to take me) so my brother in law is driving me to the hospital. I will have my overnight bag but I'm so worried about what will happen to it while I am in surgery, you know my wallet and personal items will be in there:( what do they do with our stuff when we don't have someone there waiting?

Only take a picture ID, don't take your wallet. Don't wear jewelry. Only pack your needed items - lip balm, slippers, robe, comfy clothes for ride home - soft bra, undies, sweats/workout pants, top, cell phone and charger. Turn phone off and bury it in the bag - or give it to your BIL until he gets off work.

They put my stuff in the bottom of my bed and I was moved to the same bed after the operating table, which followed me to the recovery and my room. I'd say to empty out your wallet of all but necessary things. I wouldn't leave any cash or credit cards. You can even just have a wristlet with your insurance card and drivers license.

I am also worried about this. How much sleep do you actually get at the hospital after the surgery. I would like to bring my tablet with me and was thinking that when I sleep and I'm alone, I could just put it under the sheet and my legs. Think that might be feasible?

They will tell your bro in law to keep the bag until you are in your own room. So only take your ID, insurance card and any form of payment if you have a copay with you when you register.

after you register, your bro in law will hold onto these things. He can actually keep your bag in the car until they notify him of your room number and from there he can bring it to you.

The clothes you will take off (that you’re wearing) will either go off to your bro in law if he comes back to the set up room with you or they will take and put In operating room and then put it on your bed (after they transfer you from operating room table to bed).

they will want your bro In law to take your things so they don’t get lost in translation and they aren’t responsible.

The only thing I brought back with me was my cpap that followed with me to my room and through recovery. It was labeled

I brought my iPad and I had a TV in my room, but I didn't touch either one the whole time I was there, which was 5 days. I was up walking the halls or sleeping. It's not a bad idea, but I'd def have your brother in law hold onto that until you get to your room.

All good ideas but Bryn910 hit it perfect in my book. Hey don't obsess and get your self in a stew today, okay? I'd trade places with you in a ❤beat, although mine will probably take place next month, I am impatient. I started my journey in August 2015, not quite over yet. I may be a direct descendant of the Hebrew children wandering in the desert year after year after year. I'm sure my anscestoress was complaining too. She would be saying "We didn't have it all that bad in Egypt. Then, Avram, you had to listen to that Moses. Now we're going around and circles in this desert. Sand in my clothes, sand in my sandels, the children are all turning wild, not being,in civilization. Mama was right, she said you'd never amount to much. I want to go back home!" That was Frust8 the First, way back in history. And here I am shouting "Surgery and Surgery now" Guess you don't fall too far from your family tree.
So smile, relax and tomorrow is going to be the start of very good things in your life. And next month if mine still happens you can yell Yippee with me.😝

I think you are worrying for nothing.

I came alone to the hospital, I took a Lyft. I brought my wallet, iPad, phone. When it was time for surgery the nurse put everything into a plastic bag marked it with my name and patient IDand taped it closed. It was in my new room when I came out of recovery, no problem at all

Hey@It's about Me, I need an update, how are you doing 2 days afterwards? Did things go good, are you still in hospital🏥 or home🏡? I know it's only been a couple days, but, doggone it, I miss your cheery posts😕

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
