TMI but need advice...

Recommended Posts

I developed a whey Protein isolate intolerance about 3 weeks post op. It cause extreme nausea, about 45 minutes after I started to ingest anything that contained whey protein isolate. I tried it in different forms, premade shakes, powders, bars & protein Water, reacted the same to all of them.

I had to find alternatives without whey. I first tried vegan powders, shakes and bars. I couldn't handle the way the tasted. I finally settled on Muscle Milk Pro premade shakes, Medifast powdered shakes, and Medifast chicken noodle Soup, Medifast Crunch Bars, and several of the Soups on Barbaric Pal. There are other premade shakes I can handle, like Advent Edge Carb control, but Muscle Milk tastes better to me.

Hope that helps!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this, but have you run it by your doctor and/or nutritionist??

Oh yes, he told me to keep trying different brands.

Maybe this is dumping syndrome? Is there a lot of sugar in your Protein Shakes?

It was definitely the milk. I tried to pills and it helped a bit, but not enough. I went back to muscle milk (lactose-free), and I have been perfect and feeling a lot better. Oddly enough, I had also noticed an increased heart rate after drinking my Protein Shake, and that symptom disappeared too.

It’s still possible that whey Protein isolate isn’t the issue. Muscle Milk doesn’t contain whey, so it might be that you have eliminated whey, and not related to lactose at all. Do you consume anything else with whey protein, like powders, bars, or even Protein20?

I’ve had the clear Protein Drinks and I am fine with those. Im on liquids for three weeks, so no bars yet.

Muscle milk contains whey

But it is pretty far down its list of ingredients.

Whey Protein concentrate is in the less than 1% section. I’m not sure if it agrees w me because it is different than whey protein isolate or if it in such a small amount that it doesn’t be matter

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
