my ultimate goal is 130

but if i get to 140 i will be jumping for joy .....

Well we can get this last 20-30 pounds off together! This the second attempt for me after an unfill/gain situation a few months back. I got down to about 145 last time and gained back to almost 170 when I was unfill/finding god restriction again. Its coming off sloooooowly......

I took a bunch of cold meds today not feeling well pls excuse any crazy post today....

You and me both. I'm off work today. I had an ear/throat thing a few weeks back, finished the medication last week for it and it seems my body just doesn't want to let go of it. Off to the Dr at 3pm today for me

But, what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger, right? Or in this case, thinner!!! Stick with it, you'll have such a sense of personal satisfaction if you make it through the diet your Doc set for you. You can do it! *hugs*

Can someone pls explain to me how I've been on liquids for 7 days and have only lost 1 pound!?! GRR!!!
There are several reasons. Firstly, a percentage of the weight you lost on the pre-op diet wasn't actual fat being lost, it was losing the contents of your digestive system as it empties and isn't replaced, except by the small volume of the Optifast or whatever you used. That gives you a "false high" reading, which makes you think that rate should continue, except that now your digestive system is largely empty and you won't see that rate of drop again, because what you're seeing now is actual fat loss.

Secondly, they put you on a saline drip for the operation, which boosts the Fluid levels in your body and Water is really really heavy (much heavier than fat). Thirdly, your body is swollen from the operation. All that swelling is even more fluid retention, masking the weight loss that is occurring.

Gradually your body will let go of the fluid and return to a more normal balance. At the same time, you gradually move on to thicker liquids and then mushies, which fill your digestive system again. This often means that you have a couple of weeks of plateauing or even a small regain in the post-op weeks. You are losing weight, probably at the expected rate of about 2lb per week, but while your body is going up and down with fluids and solids all out of whack, the scales are going to be really inaccurate, firstly showing a faster loss than was really there (pre-op) and then hiding the real loss that is continuing (post-op).

By the time you get back onto solids at about 4-6 weeks post-op, all that will have balanced out and you can start to trust the scales again. At this point, take measurements instead. Your bust, hip, thigh and arm measurements will show the losses more accurately. Your waist measurement is much more subjective to fluid, bloating, swelling and other factors, so it isn't really accurate yet either.

Take heart, it IS happening beneath the surface and it will all show up in the end. Congrats again on arriving in Bandland!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
