I hate it when people post just to post.....

I find this thread pretty bad too. Lots of people do come here for support & maybe some questions seem pretty stupid to experienced bandster but having this thread where they are mocked & made fun of isn't very supportive!!

In general I am pretty patient with newbies, as are most of the people who posted on this thread. But the truth is, newbies ask some pretty dumb questions. It seems to me that a newbie should be inclined to run a couple searches before asking "what is a pb?" We can be patient with dumb questions, and give people the support they are looking for 99.9% of the time. But just this once, I think people decided to let off some steam over these dumb questions. To me, this seems acceptable. I think the Karma gods will forgive. I think that people will find the support they are looking for. But just this once . . . After all, if I have to answer "what is a pb" one more time, I may loose my mind. :heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh:

You are right, some of the questions are a little bizarre. If someone is constipated all they need to do is say, "I'm constipated, is this typical for others and what do you do about it?" Instead they have to go into complete detail about what their pooh looks like, what size balls it comes out in, how long it took to pooh, and details that honestly... we don't need to know.

A little class can go a long way.

Reminds me of something a friend (and poster here) was telling me recently. Her son hurt himself at a football game and she was taking him to ER for an xray. A pregnant female at the game had a vaginal discharge and in the middle of the game she decided she needed to go to ER that minute even though this wasn't a new problem.

On the way to the hospital she took her underwear off and showed each person in the car her discharge. Including the 14 year old kid.

Again... just a little class would go a long way.

Sometimes the questions here are along that level.

Or when someone flat out explains in their post, I don't chew well, bites are too big, I eat too fast, and eat all the wrong foods and I get stuck. Do I need an unfill?

What the heck, how do you respond? They already know the problem so why are they asking? It's a reason to start a thread and post. Can't they think of anything they actually need to know or want to discuss?

wow, you really are very paranoid aren't you? In almost every post I read from you I am discovering that everything I herd about you is true.

I don't buy your little speach either. You are not required to answer newbies questions. i think you should let someone else who is better at dealing with people assist them.

If I read your posts right, you believe it is acceptable to answer a newbie's question then come straight to this thread and make fun of the very questions they ask. That is exactly what you have done. You are not required to answer newbie questions. This isnt your job. Maybe it is your LIFE but it isnt your job.

I feel so very sorry for you. I bet you have a housefull of cats too dont you?

Yes, you are correct, I think that is perfectly alright to answer a newbie's question and come straight to this thread and make fun of the very question they ask. I would not make a habit of it, but I think it is perfectly fine to do one time. And I also know that if I were a newbie, I would think this thread was very funny too. I am quite capable of laughing at myself.

In any event, your indignation and heroic defense of the little guy has been duly noted. Thank you for your contribution. All 26 if my cats are duly impressed.

well, i respectfully disagree. I don't think its acceptable to do it. I strongly dont think that its ok to do it, and i do not think that someone who's doctor didnt tell them about PB's who comes here to ask, should expect to be met with such contempt.

no one is required to answer newbie posts. if you don't want to answer them, then just leave them be for people who do want to give back.

Being an animal rights activist (to put it mildly) bless anyone who has a houseful of kitties. I can only surmise if they do, that they have adopted same.

I like parrots too, but I could not eat a whole one. I also like children, but my band won't let me eat a whole one of those either

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
